I knew I wasn’t imagining things. A couple of years ago, both my son and I used that product and developed bald spots. My scalp was inflamed, and I had to visit a dermatologist for steroid shots. When I called the company to complain, their response was to offer me more of their products, I refused. I avoid that product like the plague now. Fast forward to today-I came across this video. Thank you, universe; I finally feel validated and supported.

I don't use Mielle products but this is the third video I've had pop up on my recommendations about it this week. It sounds like what happened with DevaCurl products a few years ago. I'm so sorry to hear this is happening with another product line. I experienced scalp issues and hair loss from DevaCurl so I really get what everyone is going through. Sending everyone so much love. Definitely keep all your pictures, proof, etc. A class action lawsuit might wind up happening & you'll need your proof to be reimbursed properly. i.e. if you go to the dermatologist, or other doctors about your scalp, any medications or remedies you use to help make sure to keep all the receipts.

@@Urbanebony DevaCurl is still on the market but they lost most of their customers. They had to close their salons because people stopped going to them. I'm glad you never heard of them because it was... sigh. I barely have words for it. I was lucky because I only used it once a week and when I noticed my scalp started getting red after shampooing I stopped using it BUT it was a line that catered to wavy to coily hair textures so there were people who used it multiple times in a week. They saw the most damage. It honestly looked like the pictures you showed of your breakage and much worse. The part that was the worst for many of us and it sounds like Mielle customers are having the same experience - is they kept saying nothing had changed they didn't understand. They even said it might have been things the clients were doing like, oh maybe it's your hormones. Maybe it's stress and it was like, "Tens of thousands of us just suddenly started having hormone issues and coincidentally we all use these products?" Then they started to try to change their tune by offering refunds for the products, saying maybe we were getting products at different retailers and they weren't authentic. I had been using DevaCurl for probably 6 years with no issues before this. I trusted the products, I got my hair cut and colored at their salon, my hair thrived. There were so many people that it was the same for. The original owner was bought out by a big company (she exited though- not on the board or anything). The products were reformulated after that using cheaper quality versions of the ingredients and it seemed like the fragrance was the problem. Fragrance is tricky in products because they don't have to go into detail about what's in the fragrance. It was truly a mess and it takes time for the newer versions of the products to hit the shelves so we didn't immediately start having problems. You have your products you always use and like, everything is great. you run low, go pick up some more and your scalp feels a little weird first wash. And you're like, ooh that's strange but maybe it was spring or fall allergy season or super cold so you just think your scalp might be dry from the weather or environment, so you keep using it. That's when things went downhill. Especially many of us were using the whole line - shampoo, conditioner, stylers, an oil. There are tons of videos on KZbin if you want to watch how the saga played out so you have a sense of what to expect. Here are a couple: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bXO3f6t_a9eNZqcsi=nw36SO9IU8BuDlTb kzbin.info/www/bejne/pKbSaYh5mN53nsksi=khqelMajuzGUorAE I'm sending you all so much love. You can nurse your hair and scalp back to health. The faster you stop using the products the better. But if you can, don't throw them out or donate them, you might be able to get refunded for them. To nurse your hair back to health. Go back to what you were using before Mielle. There are also a bunch of black owned hair products that are still smaller and owned by the original creators. It seems like things go downhill once the companies are sold to large companies. the larger companies change things to shave down the profit margins so a product that used to be perfect with the original owner is no longer the same when a larger company enters. 💔

Hey sis, thanks for the video. I just stated using Mielle products because couldn’t find kinky curly anymore and kc flakes. Now I need to find something else 😩. For the aloe vera you can just cut fillet it and let the gel pieces and skin sit on a bit of water and it will turn into a gel consistency. It's just hair. I don't see any real harm. I don't see real damage. I don't understand all that processing. When Chris Rock showed "permanents" for black people were made in a bomb shelter, I was VERY confused. ("Good Hair"). Especially dragging children into it. If it's that much trouble. Just shave it all off. Make life way easier and cheaper. And if someone else doesn't like it, tough. I've seen sone stunning Jamaican women with shaved heads. She was 60 and had 5 kids. Looked about 45. She had a lot of confidence. Then you could swim and wash it whenever you want. I personally just cut mine with a scissors when it gets too long and tie it back. Save all that time and money. I'd do it in a second. That's one reason i wouldn't want to be 20 again. A few decades, you don't care what anyone else thinks. Finally free Just use some vitamin B foods and the fallout will stop. No problem. Stop the constant processing and tight braiding. Shave it all off. Talk about carcinogenic! I'm SURE putting Drano (sodium hydroxide=hair "permanents") on yours and your kid's (?!??) Heads is DEFINITELY bad for you. It'll eat the porcelain sink. No problem. Ask how I know.
