That is a awesome display for a fighter of that vintage. I almost feared it was about to loose a wing in some of that high speed passes. We are very fortunate to be able to watch this in such high quality. Back in the day you only saw a MiG in black&white movies from really poor sources.

I had the great fortune to see this aircraft perform at Oshkosh at a prior Air Venture. It was quite impressive ! I can only imagine how much jet fuel that burner was sucking down when it was lit. Those early turbines weren’t exactly “fuel efficient “ … 😄

You hear the announcer mention at 0:37 that the MiG-17 was the "tightest turning fighter aircraft in the world until the introduction of the F-16". I have scoured the web for some time now to confirm something that I had always known to be true - and that is when it comes to Instantaneous Turn Rate (ITR) - the F-14 Tomcat was superior to the F-16. Sustained turn radius (STR) was where more variables came into play and the F-16 posted improved numbers. The F-16 was/is also instantaneous-AoA limited - while the F-14 was not - which was another big factor in the Tomcat's superior ITR. The amazing lift generated by the wings extended and wide fuselage, along with the massive horizontal stabs, gave the F-14 pitch authority that was surpassed only by aircraft equipped with thrust-vectoring - like the F-22. There were rumors that the GE equipped F-14 B and D could even beat the F-16 in the STR arena, when performing these turns in AB with the massive main flaps fully lowered (which was a NATOPS prohibited maneuver). I tried to do my due diligence in finding what I could amongst seemingly reliable articles on this. That said, if someone knows for sure what I posted is false in any way, I'll gladly correct it.
