I've got that kit.....somewhere around here.....got the Mig-15, as well, lost canopy..... Ordered aftermarket vacuform unit. Huge difference in appearance. I love these Airfix kits....

I was going to take up Scale Modelling again when I Retire, but after watching the Master at Work, I now realise that THIS Master has no clothes ! Though I would have loved to see the completed Cockpit detail & the underside as well.

No, Airfix does not provide photo-etching. I made a pre-order for the model in the online store and the store gave a small set of photo-etched parts as a bonus. At the beginning of the video, a yellow sticker of the online store is visible on the box.

Отличная модель на выходе получилась. Всегда казалось что фиксовские модели немного грубоваты в плане кроя, а тут очень даже ничего. Вот только не понял что за травление использовали для гребней.

Травление из предзаказа на сайте Арма моделс. Сейчас они его предлагают с окрашеной приборкой. arma-models.ru/catalog/fototravlenie/am039091k_tsvetnoe_fototravlenie_dlya_mig_17_1_72/ Расшивка на модели на уровне среднего ЛНД, даже у старого МиГ-25 от ICM расшивка была лучше, винты вообще ужасно сделаны, впечатление, что Airfix по технологии литья остался в 80-х.

@Донецкий Военно-Исторический Клуб ну как бы там ни было , а все таки получше звезды . членение более разумное . вот вопрос такой у меня : смывка самодельная ? если да , то как приготовлена ,и чем убирались излишки и через какое время ?

Членение похоже на эдуардовский МиГ-15 в части касающейся канала воздухозаборника, ванны кабины и лафета пушек, но качество исполнения совсем не эдуардовское. Смывка намешана из эмалей Тамия (XF-20, XF-54, даже "Rubber black" добавил немного для оттенка) и разбавителя для художественных масляных красок "Сонет", консистенция по вкусу, в видео видно, что она разная (если густая получилась добавлял разбавителя), удалял после высыхания (ну минут 20) ватными палочками и разбавителем для художественных масляных красок "Сонет" без запаха, потом дочищал салфетками понемногу. Вот расстраивает в этой модели именно то, что был шанс сделать хороший МиГ-17, ну вот прям хороший, но Airfix этот шанс упустил и опять сделал игрушку.

Airfix could have such nice kits, but that panel lines are like on a cruiser. 21century a they still do kits like this.

I do find it really frustrating that Airfix as well as other manufacturers seem to devote time and a lot of effort to designing the kits of certain countries aircraft and dont spend the same time and effort on Soviet aircraft kits , plus you can buy god knows how many kits of a bf 109 or Spitefire and p-51 , but its not easy to find state of the art Soviet aircraft kits , that fit together really well and dont require nearly half a tube of model filler .
