As a retired West Germany F4 Pilot i knew a few former GDR Pilots, really though guys with balls of steel. Once, i was supposed to fly as a Guest in a MIG-29, i was very impressed of the agility of this plane and the skills of the pilot. "Horrido" to all air crews all over the world, may god bless you!

My brother was a pilot on the TU22 , he said to me once , long time ago , that the MIG 23 was designed to be the Soviet version of the F4 , and to be the one that Soviets use to face and challenges the American F4 , what do you think as a phantom pilot ? greetings.

@@user-dw3gx5gb9x Years ago, i had the opportunity to speak to a former DDR MIG 29 Pilot, he said, the MIG 23 was a very reliable and universal Fighter Jet, even comparable to the F-4 Phantom. Only the poor Avionics ( from the sight of western pilots ) were not as good as there from the Phantom.

On video are variants MF and ML.Mig-23ML was better than West germany F-4 if both pilots are equal.Mig-23 one engine far better than Mig-21 engine. It was possible to attack at high speed "rakurs" from a lower altitude to the enemy aircraft I am not pilot but you probably understand what I mean. In the 70/80s, American machines had problems detecting low-flying targets, The advantage was the changeable geometry of the wings. This is one of the tactics czechoslovak pilots which used . East german pilots probably used also this standard attack to higher flying enemy target! With R-60 and R-23 missiles was deadly. I dont know if F-4 used also this attack or not?.Its 2 engine and too big plane.Migs-23ML can detect ground flying planes on high speed. One of our pilots said that you were afraid of us! When american and western pilots saw what the Czech pilots could do, one of them "said" we should have been even more afraid

Indian Airforce had around 120 of the Mig23 & 27 all together. They played a very key role in the 1999 Kargil war, where Pakistani intruders had captured key posts. The Mig 23s and 27s were used to bomb these intruders. It was very challenging to precisely hit the enemy positions on hill tops in the mountainous Himalayan range. But the Migs proved very effective and successfully eliminated thousands of Pak intruders and eased the pressure on the Indian army to successfully recapture the heights. The Mig 23s were provided fighter cover by the deadly Mig29s, armed with R77 BVR missiles. The Pak F16s could come nowhere near the Migs, because PAF did not have BVR capacity then. Finally by June 1999, India successfully defeated the Pak intruders and recaptured all lost ground. Thanks to the mighty Migs

@@mike03021967 Na,das üben von Start,Landung,Aufrüsten ... auf der Autobahn.Die war im Gegensatz zu den offiziellen Fliegerhorsten nicht einfach abzuschotten.Geheimhaltung ganz ohne Zuschauer war nicht durchzusetzen Das waren ganz normale Straßen.Es gab noch nicht mal Leitplanken. Hätte ich dort in der Nähe gewohnt,nichts hätte mich aufgehalten,da ein Auge zu riskieren.

В переговорах "Крен 30" и "Деление 17" речь идет о делениях авиагоризонта, а различия в переговорах обусловлены тем, что в крене исчисление позиции идет по верхней части, поэтому диспетчер отдельно информирует об этом. (Полагаю что диспетчер вел истребитель в какую-то точку, точно не определенную на картах пилота)

The MiG-23 was the most challenging work for the MiG design bureau, as there was no operational variable wing fighter before. The moving wings cause a lot of design problems, some are obvious, some are subtle. They also had to work on the MiG-25 at the same time, and Artyom Mikoyan suffered a heart attack because of the stress, from which he never fully recovered. He died shortly afterwards. But both the 23 and 25 flew at the 1967 Domodedovo Parade, to astounded western "observers" (spies).

Вспомнил сразу как капитан Федор Зиновьев перепутал аэродромы и не в ГДР сел а в ФРГ (на новейшем ещё тогда миг 21). Эти обрадовались и половину полосы перекрыли. Федя глядь, не наши😨 Форсаж врубил и на них! С половины полосы взлетел! Вот такая была советская техника и главное люди!

I remember stories about excercises in the middle of 80's with Polish and Russian pilots during which the weather was quite nasty. GDR pilots refused to fly at all in these conditions. Poles fly and execute their missions. After all German pilots gave Poles their "wings" as a sign of respect. So much about German pilots being hardcore as fuck...

@@germanboy7673 ich war bei der Luftabwehr. Es galt die Devise: ist jemand mehr als 10sek zu sehen, gilt er als abgeschossen. Im Einsatz gegen Panzer waren die MiGs eh nicht gedacht. Sie waren eher für den Luftkampf geeignet. Gegen Erdziele setzte man die Mi 24D ein. Die nannten sich Armeefliegerkräfte und wurden von Bodentruppen befehligt. Nebenher gab es noch Marinefliegerkräfte und die Luftverteidigung. Es gab also auch verteilte Rollen, obwohl alle die gleichen blauen Fliegersymbole trugen und der selben Gattung angehörten. Effektiv sind jedoch nur, genau wie heute, die Teilstreitkräfte, wenn sie zusammen wirken. Sieht man in der Ukraine: wenn die Russen die Bodentruppen konsequent durch Luftunterstützung führen würden, wäre die Ukraine schon Geschichte. Geht aber nicht, da die Ukraine das ( noch) verhindern kann. Wenn dann die F15 einsatzbereit sind, hoffe ich, dass die Ukraine wieder in die Offensive gehen und ihr Land zurück erobern kann. Hoffen wir mal…

@PaK_Wagen I guess they always communicated in Russian, at least that would be logical for a Warsaw pact country. It is not that every pilot flies his jet 8 hours a day, so every flight must be seen as an exercise and involves everything, also communication skills. Radio communication on airplanes and airfields is (at least in the West) always recorded and are listened back and when you made a mistake, the Comms control of the field may want a word with you. It is also the way to find back information after a crash. You need to practice radio-communication on and on, to be able to use them correctly when SHTF. If you have trouble finding the right words or understanding it, the plane has already covered 5 or 10 miles more.
