Idk if u noticed but alot of us don't like EC maps in RB. Half the time the match goes on for 30 minutes bc u camt find someone. Its pretty stupid if u ask me

But for the most part it's either maps are too small cos jets can hit Mach 1 and cross 20km in around a minute or maps are too large that you can't find the last player. But we're expecting gaijin to actually make a positive change which is like asking a crackhead to share his pipe

Personally I’m mixed on Ec, I wish we had an option to play Ec or rb, I don’t like EC for 8.7 jets and 9.7, but for planes with radar missiles it’s ok, I feel like there aren’t enough players in Ec lobbies. Over all they need to work on it

FYI If you are having trouble with the radar missiles (R-24R) here's a tip Make sure you have your radar figured out. There's a tutorial on YT by TimsVariety where every radar is explained and aside from some scientific errors that don't really matter anyway it's a great video. Anyway once you have that understood, here's the tip use standard radar mode for scanning, but not for missiles, since chaff will fool the missile. When you spot a target with the standard search mode, you've got two options. If it's within 10km you're good, if it isn't then get closer, since the mode you're about to use has less than stellar range. Once it is within 10km, switch to MTI or moving target indication and then use your missiles (use ACM if having trouble locking). You need to be low since at high altitude MTI is replaced with LD which isn't as good. MTI will compare the previous radar recording to the next one and filter out things that appear to be in the same position after taking account for aircraft speed, so the ground and stationary chaff will be filtered out but the * _small_ * moving target (plane) that is not in the same place where a stationary target would be (since it moved, at supersonic speeds probably) will remain visible and hence locked. It basically guarantees that it'll ignore chaff and keep the missile on its path. I've got a ~90% hit rate in ideal conditions, and that's including chaff deployers. Great radar, great missile. TLDR search with regular, fire missile with MTI (at low alt, within 10km). If you're having trouble locking with MTI (it sucks at locking) force it with ACM mode. ACM is pretty much needed and explains the shorter range vs regular scanner.

The missiles currently in game shouldn't have IRCCM. Gaijin buffed flares to unrealistic levels shortly after they came out due to players complaining that missiles would "ignore" flares (the flares worked people just didn't use them right) and might have reverted some of it. Meaning that missiles should be tracking closer to the plane than they were before and you need to pull more to get out of their sight.

Mouse to look around and WASD for the Joystick, it's really nice actually and works great for the Su-25, I'd imagine it would work just as well on other planes which are not high fidelity or have interactible cockpits. If you want to, I can send you the controls preset, makes it feel a lot like flying in WarThunder

To prevent accidental ripping and not as fast high end acceleration if you cut your multiplier down for throttle you can tell use the first stage afterburner so you don't accelerate into oblivion as fast. I only use the second stage in combat or when chasing someone down

im curious do you plan on re checking the phantoms in this patch, they recently buffed combat flaps to now work for speeds up to 1300km/h (reddit had a data mine of the changes somewhere) and testing it it does in fact work on the F4E easily up to 700mph+ ive not managed to rip them yet

Both MTI and IRST improve target acquisition and lock range, but IRST gives no RWR warning, and the entire point of using R-24T's over R-24R's is stealth launches.

German top tier is full of 23MFs still. 80% are brain dead and don’t realize they have to BnZ in that jet. It isn’t a good fighter and it doesn’t have enough countermeasures to turn and burn. It’s hard to play with a team consisting of low tier players in top tier vehicles and downgraded Russian/US jets anyway.

Btw, Gaijin has buffed IR all aspect missiles at afterburner targets in last major patch. Weve tested R-24T, R-23T and AIM-9L lock range at head on with phantoms. It depends on map(hot, cold, medium), but at hot-medium maps: R24T - 10.5km, R-23T - 7 km, 9L - 7 km.

F-4J. The F-4E is a better dogfighter, but it will still get destroyed by Mig-23s, F-5s or Mig-21s and its radar is really bad. The F-4J has a decent PulseDoppler radar which allows it to engage targets at low altitude with its Sparrows.

It’s mainly just support, so I would play conservatively. It’s not the best since you’ve got no countermeasures and the missiles that the Lightning F.6 has can only be used reliably below 2KM.

The MTI mode is a real bitch trying to fight against since you don't get any radar pings. Always gets me killed out of nowhere. But I gotta say I would much rather have the f4j with aim7's and 8 missiles total than any of the mig23s. Just more killing potential. Only problem is if you're in a phantom and ur team sucks ur gonna have a bad time

MTI is fixed now. Also, personally, having flown both the Phantom and Mig23s, I would take the Mig-23 MLA/MLD over the F-4J. Their radar feels much nicer, they are really nice dogfighters and their missiles are just as good, it's nice having the extra 2 Radar guided missiles but it's a sacrifice I'm willing to make. Also, I am talking mainly about Sim, but this applies to RB as well

Using Vertical Targeting helps a lot when using low velocity guns like the Gsh-23-2 and ADEN/DEFA's because of how much the shells drop normally.

It's personal preference. Vertical targeting can be really nice and helps in a dogfight, but if you are slightly tilted while aiming at something, it will mess up your shots. Try it and see how it goes for you
