I have a bunch of welders and I bought a HTP appx 6 years ago and loved it more than any other brands out there. Hypertherm plasma and HTP are on the top my list.

I'm about to drop my dime for the 220 and you sealed the deal with this video. I got a chuckle out of the music from the gym next door comment - just adjacent my shop is a gym used for a cheer leading squad. I try to time my recordings around their workouts for exactly the same reason, KZbin is pretty adamant about copyright laws. Love your content, keep up the awesome job!

Great review. I'd also like to see a video of what is involved and required to set up the tig torch on the 220MTS. Thanks!

Picked up one of these last week (7/11/19), nice machine but I will rip on HTP for not including one or saying on their website that these only ship with the drive roller for .035/.045 wire. most of my welding is .023 wire (body panel repair/replacement) and that caused another week of lost time. The HTP mig-2400 I bought three years ago came with a full set of drive rollers.

Interested in this machine. Would you say it is a capable stick welder? I understand from reading it will not weld 6010, and that's not a deal breaker for me, but I would like to know that it is a very capable stick welder and not just a sweet mig welder that has a stick function.

Looks good. Hope you're doing well! You should do a 1 year review on the 220 and let us know what you think. I am looking to get a tig unit and already have a Millermatic 211 so not sure if I should go with the multi-process unit or just a tig unit. Your thoughts? Cheers!
@42Fab
@42Fab 4 жыл бұрын
It's a great machine, I've had literally no issues with it. I'd get the machine you think you'll use most. If you want a dedicated TIG unit that's the best, but otherwise something multifunction can offer more bang for the buck.

@@42Fab It doesn't say on the HTP website so perhaps you know: when setting it up in Stick welding Mode, does it allow you to set Hot Start & Arc Force? Does it have a cellulosic mode for E6010, and if not, does it light up E6010 stick electrodes? What about Pulse stick welding; does it offer it?

I just got it in (literally yesterday), so I haven't went through it all yet, I'll check on Monday. Their website will be updated soon, stock was honestly just a bonus for me, I mostly just needed a second machine so I'm not changing wires as often

@@42Fab Soon to get mine too! That's gonna make for one EPIC picture of all my HTP machines! 6 in total, LOL. In a way I envy you guys who work on cool fabrication projects all the time, and I'm in an office, but it's my office job that makes it possible for me to get all the things I want. Oh well, lol.

I have done a fair amount of 1/4" without issue, not even running topped out, so... The display is going to tell you it will top out at 1/4, but that's worst case as the machine interprets it. I'd give them a call and they'll walk you through the options. There is also the PP300 if you have the power and wallet.

Richard, how is that 15 foot MIG gun working for you on the 220MTS? I'm thinking of getting one.
@42Fab
@42Fab 4 жыл бұрын
works great for .035" wire and up. .030" the machine can have a hard time feeding if the gun isn't mostly straight. I now have it parked on my PP200 which I keep set up with .035" and keep the 12' gun on my PP220 with .030" If your work calls for .035 wire or your machine sits behind you when you work (straighter gun lead), check it out: 800usaweld.com/collections/htp_america_pro_pulse_220_mts_24_series_mig_gun/products/24_series_mig_welding_gun_euro_back_end?ref=42Fab&variant=29075724632147

@@42Fab I see, thanks for the feedback. Right now on my PP200 & 220MTS I have 10ft guns but I do have a few 1/16" steel liners in 15ft length. I could spare one and send it to you no charge if you were willing to swap it into your 15ft gun and re-try 030 wire to see if there is any improvement in feeding and then give me feedback on it. I just recently ordered the icosahedron weld kits from you, so I could send to that address on the label if you'd be willing.

42Fab - Metal Fabrication & Signage absolutely. I’ve got a Lincoln tombstone I picked up for 125 right now. I’ve been really interested in getting a MTS machine like this one or the Lincoln 210MP but until I get more hours under my belt, the cost is just a bit too much yet.

@zod-engineering-welding

I disagree somewhat. While it does have advanced features, there is absolutely no reason a beginner can't use this machine for basic steel welding using solid wire on C25 gas. The synergic settings alone will have you welding up things quite nicely if you put the time and effort into it! Not only that, the are lots of resources and help you can turn to, as HTP has gathered up quite a following. There's a very good reason that about 1-1.5 years ago, the ProPulse 200 couldn't be kept in stock, and every single unit was spoken for coming off the trip across the Atlantic! I'm gonna get one of these new ProPulse 220MTS's!

I think he's more on about the price. To someone earning a living at it, it's a no brainer. Starting out even $500 can hurt.

Why pull your welds and why whip it both are bad habits, between you and that guy in Arizona I have no idea why HTP give deals to hack welders.
@42Fab

We are fabricators, not welders. The difference is in the need to build something vs make a weld. Something may not be as strong as possible, but is stronger than it needs to be therefore is good.
