"Since Migaloo was first sighted, in 1991, by marine scientists Trish and Wally Franklin" should read "Since Migaloo was first sighted, in 1991, by Adrian Oosterman and Paul Hodda of the Australian Whale Conservation Society".

Thank you for your comment. Indeed Dr. Trish Franklin took Migaloo's first picture, but the encounter may have been different from Migaloo's first sighting. In doubt, we made the video description more generic since we couldn't find information on who made the first sighting. Can you please provide us with some reference pointing to Adrian Oosterman and Paul Hodda?

Agreed. Paul Hodda took a photo of H2 way back, considered the first. Oosterman is not cited in the subsequent publication but is regarded as the first to see the animal.

@@TheNeutroniumAlchemist the first (albeit grainy) photos were taken by Paul Hodda who was sitting beside Oosterman. Adrian first sighted the pod of two animals that included H2 (later to be named 'Migaloo'). The initial publication is: Forestell, P.H., Paton, D.A., Hodda, P., Kaufman, G.D. (2001) Observations of a hypo-pigmented humpback whale, Megaptera novaeangliae, off east coast Australia: 1991-2000 Memoirs of the Queensland Museum 47 (2): 437-449 Let me know if I can be of any further assistance. Cheers.

@@libbyeyre8950 thanks Lib. When I finished my morning shift and left (at midday) we were on pod G. Adrian sighted pod H (2x animals including H2/Migaloo) shortly after I left.

Most likely hit by a Chinese freighter or bulk carrier and now deceased.
