Typically you should harvest as soon as you see it start to get lighter streaks before it gets to yellow streaks. Thats how I know when to pick mine. Also side note, if you half peel it. Use a potato peeler and peel a strip then leave a strip then peel a strip, it will help with removing the bitter taste from an overripe fruit or if it has a tough skin to make it easier to eat.

I’m going to germinate my cucumber seeds and tomato seeds then plant in two large flower pots. My daughter ask me if I was going to see my produce at Farmers Market! I think she’s making fun at me! this will be my 2nd time growing cucumbers, first time worked well with default (clay soil), what worked best that time was training up the cucumbers from seedlings and repotting them up to a bigger pot than the seed trays and growing indoors/ and some outdoors until it seemed ready (hardened off). The one I planted was about 9 to 11 inches and it just took off and went crazy.

I just wanted to express how amazed I am that I have even the 1 cucumber that I do from an amazing plant that is close to 40" high after less than 2 months. I dug a 6" round hold about 8-10" deep. I then put a handful of compost (store-bought) at the bottom, set the plant on top, then packed the topsoil around it. I couldn't believe how fast it grew and I accommodated it with steaks and a wire here and there for it to grasp on with it's "grab on tentacals" that help it keep reaching for the sky lol This is my first attempt! I also have wonderful tomatoes coming along nicely :)

I've gardened for 40 years and didn't know cukes needed that much space. This year I will give them space, as you suggest. Also, I like the nylon netting. I have metal fencing that I salvaged but it might be kinder in the hot sun to have the nylon netting.

We use the plastic orange colored safety fence and stretch it between common steel 6' fence posts for trellis. Get it at Lowes.

I feed my snails cucumbers. When i went to take care of my fish tank I saw one seed sprout. Now im attemping to do hydroponics. Not many videos about hydroponics I found helpful. But now I have a sprout growing out of my fish tank. I took it out and put the leaf above water but put it in a cup of gravel so it can root. Got an led light above it. For now.

I use metal fencing to grow my cucumbers. The vines have no trouble grabbing on to the fencing and climbing.

I saw (and purchased) the Mexican Sour Gherkins after seeing that video, but it didn't go too much into the care, planting and preparation. As Minnesota has (finally) warmed up and I can take my transplants outside, I'd love to get them started, but the technical part of me would like a few more insights as the plants are growing. In theory, a lot of the stuff about spacing, working with trelaces and sunlight should be the same as the cucumbers so I thought I'd start here. Thank you!!!
