I recommend to anyone I'm talking cars to, that is leaving factory ecu, Hal-tech because of Scott and your and Rob Dahm's videos. Even having not used it. It's just so well designed in hardware and software, and the Tech Support I've seen is amazing. -Always loved your videos, baught a 24 outback XT turbo and already making spreadsheets for mods. Both Subaru approved and for when my warranty ends :). It already squeals the tires a bit on a full throttle take-off into a turn, but needs a touch more! Nothing crazy planned, but another 50-100hp on full throttle will make summer as fun as winter (in Canada). AWD drifts into the next lane is so fun!

So happy to see a mid-range turbo build that will have good response on the street and be a blast to drive. The huge turbo's that don't come alive until well past 4000 can be fun when they're up and spooled but getting there a pain in street driving. The blue car is a really nice example of well engineered.
@neovenom718719 күн бұрын
True, it reminds of 300+hp Fiesta ST I once drove. it gave nothing until it hit over 4000rpm. great for sprints on the straights, but when it came to mid range it actually had less power than my stock ECU Fiesta ST. Ah the good old times.

@@russelljimenez4715 It's not a point of being 'worried'....it's about the car and what you plan to do with it. Run on a dyno to make big numbers so you can brag to all your friends? Sure...legit build but will be a dog trying to actually use the car on a twisty road. I prefer an engine that can be used with good response in cars and bikes. No power then too much power is a sure way to go slowly on a racetrack.
@secretsquirrel972219 күн бұрын
There have been multiple research articles on intervooler sprayers. The short answer is to how to set it up. Is to actually spray after a sustained boost event. The cooler doesn't work as an instantaneous transferral of heat from the intake to the ambient air. It acts as a heat soak for the intake air (boost). Then has to shed that heat to the outside. Which is when it is optimal to use the sprayers. You can test it yourself by logging the intercooler metal temperature yourself. It will always peak, AFTER the power run! Hence, the term "heat soak".

Here in North America, the sportiest Imprezas we got in that era were either the 2.5 RS (coupe) or 2.5 TS (sedan), which where kinda like a toned-down WRX; it had different bumpers, side skirts and spoiler, but way more conservative than a WRX. It also had the bigger engine, the 2.5, whereas the Impreza first came stock with a 1.8 and then a 2.2. I love this particular build of yours, because it is so reminescent of what "Sport Compact Car" magazine did in february of 1999 when they got a hold of one of the first 2.5 RS, and then went to custom-turbocharge it and make it look like a WRX coupe... beautiful setup. twin scroll 2.5L. if the cams springs and valves, cam gears are upgraded to rev up to 8-9k rpm then you will know the true twin scroll potential on a 2.5L. the other VF turbos that comes stock for ej207 spec c can push to 380hp. a 2.5L with higher revving ability should also be able to hit 400 on a Hi flow spec vf48 turbo. i plan making my 2006 wrx drive like a wrx-ra by upgrading to 8k rpm, oem vf39/48, twinscroll header fabbed to single scroll pipe. and dccd 5 speed. the ej255 has higher compression that should give crazy amounts of low end torque. the td04 alone makes a lot of torque. the sti tmic and big tmic perform nearly identical as NASIOC forum says. the 2010+ sti tmics are biggest they can get.
