Nice simply build.. BUT..... if you really want it to handle, yes tires are #1 , BUT a good performance anti sway bar will do FAR more then the springs will do as far as handling. Yes the springs will lower it a bit but you will notice a smooth ride like stock yet handle better then the springs, if you go with the sway bar If you are going for the road race track.. #1 tires.. #2 performance anti sway bars.. For looks go springs if u have to pick one or the other, but anti sway bars are usually not to crazy expensive. Edit: GLAD TO SEE you did sway bars at the end of the video....In My 25 years of racingexperience road racing/ stage rally (for road racing, go anti sway bars before springs if u have to choose one fo... Another "bonus mod" you can use is a high quality weighted shift knob. Makes a big difference for the shifting experience. Also, for an STI mud flaps make a whole lot of sense in the "kit" category.
@MrBrander3 жыл бұрын
True. The shifter knob makes all the difference. Especially if you change the shaft too. I had my shifter knob changed to a smaller one on my previous car by the previous owner and he also had removed the bulky foamy plasticy body of that shifter so there was just a small straight metal stick and a small knob in the end of it. It made me want to change the gears constantly. It felt so good when there was just that small metal stick with small shifter knob.

It's worth mentioning that Subaru uses a MAF system and they use hypereutectic pistons with a very high silicon level meaning the pistons are strong but susceptible to fracturing more than other options. Installing an intake with no tune can cause the car to run lean inducing knock which because of the high silicon count can mean the shockwave can shatter your ring lands. Always tune your Subaru for your mods. Never use bolt ons without a tune

Even a cat back or axle back?
@jsquared1013 Жыл бұрын
@@standforcanada4967 honestly, I would tune the ECU even on a stock car (assuming you don't have any engine modification plans yet; otherwise do as soon as the mods go on). The sensitive pistons in the EJ205, 255, and 257 plus the fact that the OEM Subaru tunes aren't that great for OEM "across the board" (at least the GD generations and early 08+, not sure about later).

Coilovers, never just springs. Change the spring rate and you'll need to change the damping, or you'll wind up with an underdamped suspension, causing bounce.
@NitroNuggetTV3 жыл бұрын
Well designed lowering springs, like Whitelines, account for this very well. Unless spending you're A LOT, quality springs will be more comfortable and reliable than coils most the time. Coils are generally spec'd for track/"high performance", not what you want on a daily.
@CaptainMirro3 жыл бұрын

3:05 - You guys actually want to get an impact wrench*, dont make the rookie mistake of ordering an impact driver for removing stubborn wheel nuts and the like

What's the issue with a driver?
@MattB903 жыл бұрын
@@PheonixRise666 Drivers are usually made for driving in screws and the like, they transfer their torque through a 1/4-inch hex collet that accepts 1/4-inch hex shank bits. Impact wrenches typically use a square drive (at least 3/8in, usually 1/2 in) that you attach a socket to...impact wrenches usually have more torque unless theyre like extremely compact models, whereas those tiny 1/4in hex collets used with drivers usually fail in high torque applications (think of all that torque being transfered through a longer thinner piece of metal) and also require adapters to attach a socket to, but are absolutely fine for light duty applications

I think I made that mistake but worked out fine with the socket attachment, granted I just did 2 front shocks

I would recommend a high flow cat. It's a definite bottleneck and needs to be addressed especially with a turbocharged car.

I'm looking at buying a 2015. This video perfectly describes what I want to do! The only concern is I have seen lots of people saying you NEED a tune for exhaust and intake and to not just add engine mods as that can be damaging. Update 1/05/2024: WRX 2016 bought 😊 tune for intake, yes, tune for exhaust, no. Haven't modded or tuned yet but do your due diligence! Flash/OTS tunes seem like a no go, but that's my personal orientation.
@rp96743 жыл бұрын
With exhaust and intake mod I think you need to do a chip mods, computer's designed to work with those restrictions. Shop carefully for exhaust there's a difference between a good sound and just loud, no regerts. If you want to see a world where everyone does this come to downtown Burbank it might be heaven to you, but it's hell to me. When everyone's special, no one is special.

Seriously have to jump in here and get my, “ Hey Ryobi” to read this!, these tools such as ratchets and grinders that have the battery at 90 degrees to the skin, needs alterations, I’d like to see them in a side mount or angled as the battery in some cases stands out taller than the socket or grinding disc’s and makes it hard to get then close to the work

First time viewers watching this like "why do they keep showing close-ups of their feet?" We don't know either, my friend, we have just stopped questioning it

Just installed the Q300 exhaust on my 2020 STI last weekend. This is the PERFECT exhaust! Nice rumble but you can still talk to passengers while on the highway,

As someone who drives an STI, I find it absolutely criminal that you didn't get a short shifter and bushings. STI has plenty of slop in the gear shift.
@pieflies3 жыл бұрын
I’ve not had an STI but have had a Liberty GT and a Forester XT and first mods for me are group N engine and gearbox mounts, trans bushings and short shifter. 100% better. I can’t believe how terrible it is from factory.
