Yep, $700 for a cat-back for my 2019 Elantra GT NLine Turbo, and $1100 for downpipe plus a full custom exhaust system... Oh, and $350 for a custom K&N intake system. Finally $650 for a tune that provides an extra 50hp, and 50torque... Add in a downpipe, which is close to $650...yeah it's expensive but it's fun! And my dealer is fine with mods, so I still got the warranty :)

@@antonioakiki3716 Yep that the biggest difference any mod yet has made on my car...it now burns through tires throughout 1st and second gears, it completely changes everything. Plus with my Cat-Back system, I now have nice pops and bangs when downshifting and revving the engine. The only downside is the aftermarket for my car isn't that great so parts are rather expensive. But I love my Elantra GT N line, it looks sleek in black, and with the chrome-tipped exhaust and nice 18" custom black wheels, it looks really nice.

@@tincangarage5616 Yeah ikr? Hopefully, the aftermarket will pick up soon on our cars. I love mine, but it's so expensive to modify, but it's well worth it in the end. I also picked up a carbon-fibre engine cover for around $200, it looks sick. sharkracing.com/2018-i30-elantra-gt-1-6-turbo-carbon-fiber-style-engine-cover/

Highschool car builds are the best, working your ass off for that next part, whatever it may be is so rewarding when its finally accomplished. As much as I would love to slap 30 different things on my car in one day, I prefer it much better having to work for the parts and build from the ground up over the years. Anyways, I love the way you've done up this BRZ, looks sick!

I’ll be the college student with a modded car that’s unfinished. I think I’m between the 240sx or an Integra type R. Definitely agree. Gotta love exhaust bolts that have literally become one with the flanges due to corrosion. Either have to drill or melt them out of there. And that's a fairly easy scenario. Recently it took me 1 hour do do the front brakes and another month to do the rears as the calipers were all rusted and had to order new ones.

"It's your car. Do what YOU want." Can't tell you how much I appreciate this. I know I'm not building my car the "cheap and easy way" but I'm building it the way I want and I want a car that will last. Yet for some reason whenever I tell people my game plan they always give me this look like I'm insane. I'm not building the car for the next guy or to make money from it and I don't want to have to rebuild the engine every 2 years. I'm building it to give me good times for decades to come with just general regular maintenance.

Man this takes me back. I love and missed this style from the earlier years. It makes me more enthused to pickup a wrench again. It's been half a year and I don't know why I can't do it anymore. But it does help some to see the two guys who started this channel with this video again, whom I'd call brothers. The help I've had and journey gone has been so much better because of it. I may not be able to say it's been because of this a life was saved or not. I can say I am nowhere near as hardened to life as I could have been, and have a vicarious experience of a hobby when going to and trying to meet new people once a month was too much out of my budget. I miss my manual everyday of the week and hope I can get back to repairing. Sometimes it's hard to even know what's ailing.

Just want to say as a first time viewer, this was a really well produced video. The pace of the presentation, the choice of mods, the actual installation, decent tunes for the times you weren't talking - this was just excellent. I might be a bit biased as I actually own a BRZ and have been considering some of the mods you chose to do, but I think the advice was generic enough to fit most any car. Well done lads.

A gold mine of knowledge right here. This is an old video but hey! Just bought a GT86 2017 recently, and did all the mods mentioned in this video minus the dash replacement. And looking helllaa sweet. Don't be fooled a by how a simple air filter can make your car sound. 10/10 and you have earned a sub from me The best part about modding you car is the enjoyment of adding the next piece. Its can be a slow journey and definitely doable. I started with knowing nothing about cars. 1 year later, doing my own oil changes, spark plugs and changing brake pads all from my own garage. Its a lifelong skill and you defs wont regret learning it.

Depending on the insurer, you can negotiate an agreed value that covers the cost of the mods (generally not including consumables like tyres). The greater the agreed value the more your insurance costs though and they might have upper value limits.
@OvoJeGovno
@OvoJeGovno 4 жыл бұрын
@@nathanreimer1296 Pro tip: your insurance doesn't care. Value is a number plugged into an algorithm that determines your premium. "Oh, you say you car is worth 10k more than we think it is? K, I guess you like paying more each month for insurance then lol" is basically the only determining factor. Seriously, unless you make a claim immediately after acquiring a new policy, they don't even look your way twice. Try to get cheap insurance, you'll get basically nothing if you have an accident. Try to plan for "covering ALL my costs!" if you get into an accident? you'll pay out the ass each month. It's up to you to approximate your cars worth. They don't care. They just plug the numbers.

@@JacobHolmes747 Not even close, there are several rules. You can't have the wheels outside the body, and you must not be able to see any part of the wheel when viewed from above, so you can't stance the hell out of it just to get the top of the wheel flush. You can have big flares to allower wider wheels and I don't think they mention a limit on the size of them. But there's a pretty serious limitation on width and offset from only being able to widen the track by 25mm, measured from the centre of the rim, meaning you can only decrease the offset by 12.5mm. You can have wider rims, but with only 12mm lower offset, you'll be hitting the inside of the car before you can get too wide. Can't use spacers. Can't increase the overall diameter of the tire by more than 15mm. Tires can't be more than 30% wider than manufacturer's widest for the car. Can't have the tire scrubbing on anything at any point, while 'fully laden' and going over speed bumps and driveways. I think basically all stock cars would fail that. There's minimum tire widths for rim widths, basically square sidewall is the minimum. Then there's another dozen or more rules for suspension.

I've been turning wrenches for about 15 years now, still an enjoyable video. Two things come to mind: -It's not absolutely necessary that you mod a car. If you enjoy it as is, that's perfectly ok too! I have spent a lot over the years on mods that I ended up regretting, because I thought they would be "cool" or improve the car somehow. Not always the case, unfortunately. -Wasn't mentioned in the video, but when jacking up the car, always be sure the car can be raised from the point you're choosing. I can easily see a beginner jacking up their car from the oil pan...
