How to stop the seat belt beep. Works in my Subaru. Try it in yours. Turn the vehicle to the on position by either turning the key to the on (without starting it) or hitting the push to start button twice without touching the brake pedal. Buckle and unbuckle the seatbelt twenty (20) times in thirty (30) seconds. The seat belt chime is now disabled.

@CoconutCrab Not a WRX engine at all. Hence having to cap torque down low so it doesn't blow up. And yes it would have been way more expensive, OEM's have different warranty requirements and durability standards. A factory turbocharged BRZ/86 would have been a completely different price-point.

@@mbsnyderc you're underestimating just how well the 86/BRZ handles. A stock 86/BRZ goes around Winton as quick as a stock WRX STI despite having significantly less power. Marty has no chance.

hey guys following this build, as someone who had a 2013 86 turbo e85 for 40k miles. the amount of guys that had stock\IAG\any other built blocks still let go on them is SCARY. I would recommend building a FA20 only if it isn't your daily and have $4k set aside for a shortblock if you do your own labor.

HP is mainly a fancy number to brag about, Torque is what really gets you moving and up to speed. The 1GR's I've been building for my cars have heaps of torque but it's usually the transmission that goes first before the engine in my builds. My RWD converted ST204 Celica is currently running around 360-380rwhp and ~400lbft of torque comfortably and after the wider tires/wide body was added on it can effectively deliver that power to the ground without too much wheel spin (still a super light chassis+light engine with that much power it's past the point where it's practical for a street car where I don't wanna tear into the chassis stripping/destroying the interior).

CoconutCrab you might be right, but Marty doesn’t seem a very aggressive driver, so I don’t think he is going keep it redlined and working the drift / grip limits. OR the opposite approach of super clinical, but in their performance range I think they will need to push. It will be fun to see, but I think there is every chance Moog cuts a couple of seconds off his previous times. (I think he pushes a little harder) .The newer technology, and now better than equal power, will be too much for the classic STi. If Moog doesn’t spin it out!

Brennan Clouatre my brother had a ‘97 STI type R coupe, and I know they are fast up to 180kph, even stock... Just so lightweight, compared to cars now. The door panels are thin with nothing to them, compared to the six inch thick, molded, insulated doors that cars have now. I think Marty does best in the straight line drags, but Moog is better with cornering. And since he’s already equalled/bettered the STi’s time, he should only get quicker... even using the new power sparringly. Looking forward to it- it might inspire Marty to do some significant work on the STi ;)

In my opinion the connecting rods and pistons are not suited for boost of any kind. I bent the rod on cyl #3 after spinning a rod bearing a couple months ago. It tore up the crankshaft and then proceeded to seize completely. After tearing it apart I was surprised at how low light and low quality a lot of the internal components were. My plan was originally to turbo it but now I don't think i'll be doing any type of forced induction without a set of forged internals first. It may work initially but its only a matter of time before the thing goes pop. Block and head seem good for plenty of power by the way. cheers

I bought one new in 2016 with the plan to put the Edelbrock Eforce supercharger in and it made the car PERFECT, like the factory should have done it. It's another option few think of, lot less problems in installation and tune.

@@johnmoore9588 sorry, totally disagree with the philosophy that it's only good if it's an 8 cylinder. Yes, before fuel injection and computerized management cubic inches counted but technology has advanced and made the 8 cylinder obsolete. How do I know, how many are still made, it's a dying niche and less and less are manufactured as smaller, lighter and more fuel efficient engines now put out the same HP. Hey, some people still ride horses but their not mainstream... And soon the V8 will be like the horse and buggy, not seen on the roads much.

Mine did 250kw on the wheels on high boost with octane booster with 1.2bar boost. Impressive power gains. I run 0.9bar on low boost with 220kw on wheels on pump fuel. Next upgrade is internals.

secretcitizen 100hp loss is a bit too much, according to the interwebs the drivetrain loss on a BRZ is like 20% so it would be in the region of 375 crank I guess

@@badnewskelli It is 300whp, but that's on a load bearing hub dyno. Those read lower than what an inertial type, such as Dynojet, run. So while you'd adjust about 15-17% loss for a Dynojet, you're looking closer to 25% loss from crank to wheel on the hub dyno. So, 300whp divided by (.75) you get 400hp dead even.

@L W 15% loss would be accurate for an inertial dyno, but on the load-bearing type dyno here, it'd be closer to 25% loss. Which would agree with the original, stock 130whp compared to 200hp at the crank.

FYI, regarding the seat belt chime, you can turn it off. Done it on an 07 Outback and a 20 Crosstrek. Key in > Turn to On (Don't Start) > Plug & Unplug Seatbelt 20 times within 20 seconds > Turn off & remove key > Put ket back in and turn on. Chime may chime up to 6 times, but will then shut off. My outback needed the latch to be let go, but my Crosstrek let me hold the release button down. This resets itself if you remove the battery or reset the codes.

i know thats what ive been saying, if they want a apples to apples comparison like they say. what you do to 1 you do other, eg: give the brz a turbo back exhuast, retune,intake do all that to the sti. other wise its not a fair battle. if they did that to the sti it would shit all over the brz lol

@@calebroy8957 except thats still not a fair comparison as the sti costs 3 times as much to start with. So even with the work they have done he still probably has half of what the sti costs into the brz. The looser does upgrades so far, once the brz wins then the sti will likely get some love.

You should be able to plug and unplug your seat belt several times very fast with the key on and it fault and never alarm again. Not sure if it works on BRZ, but my other Subarus it worked on.

You COULD turn off the belt chime... Key in, fasten and unfasten 20 times in 30 seconds from the key on will turn the belt alert off. At least in the US, but I can't imagine that would be different for different regions. Useful but of info
