I used Duplicolor Bumper and trim black. Its made specifically for bumper's, grill's and trim. It is supposed to last longer, also it wont peel. The stuff you used wasn't plastidip, but it is peelable and so it could wear off quickly. The stuff I went with worked great. I also repainted the center chrome strip because that was faded in some spot's too. I used Duplicolor chrome. It came out more of a silver, but still looks great. No rattle can chrome actually comes out looking like chrome, it all comes out looking silver, just as an FYI. Lastly I installed new more stylish headlight's and signal light's and added the Silverstar ultra light bulbs. It came out excellent, the truck look good as new and modern with the nice brighter bulbs and clear lenses.

informative, no bs, and to the point. great vid! i found a 98 with just 47,000 miles on it and it is in really good shape overall but i put a really nice stereo system in it and new wheels/tires so now i am in the process of doing a few small things to the exterior.

Exactly what I needed to see. I was going to buy a new part but I like the idea of painting it better. Thanks!

Thanks for the Vid. My 2000 s10 grille looked the same as yours, before and after!!! followed your lead for the removal and even the choice of paint. I'm very satisfied with results. I even painted the emblem the same. Great job, very helpful video.

too sweet! I have a 2000 blazer and I have the same problem. I might chrome the honey comb though... not sure yet. thanks for sharing!

This is a very common problem on the chevy ranger knock offs if you where really thinking of chroming the hunny comb part may I suggest using tin foil on it would be a lot cheaper then real chrome plus you would probably have a nuff tin foil left to bake a potato with just my 2 cents tho

Thanks for posting this.I was thinking about plastidipping my Blazer grill and rear window trim white to match the paint but had never worked with stuff..nice finishing touch with the emblem!
@MightyMechanic7 жыл бұрын
That should look good! Plasti dip is easy to work with. It's nice because if you don't like it you can just peel it off. Thank you! I think the emblem looks way better black than the original silver color.

Now you got to build something for the bottom bumper or just buy another one but you could make a nice air scoop down there! Nice Video.

Awesome. Are they the same clips as a 2000 Chevey Blazer LT 4WD? I saw one of a 2002 that had 14 clips. The guys video wasn’t very well for showing the clips.

Thanks for the video! Finally got the nerve to do the grill on my son's 99 S10, it was pretty faded. Looks great. The only problem is I discovered one of the turn signal housings had a broken clip so it was literally just sitting in there. I've decided to replace both as well as the headlights, bumper and air deflector. With only 96,000 miles, I think it will last a little longer so why not spruce it up a bit.

Did this to my truck, not good longterm but good for quick fix, if you wanna wash ur truck dont wash on hot day or scrub too hard cuz it will just damage the pain and peel it all off

Thinking about doing the same thing, but planing on using clear coat, what do you think?
@MightyMechanic7 жыл бұрын
Yeah definitely! Especially if your paint is still good. It will protect it from becoming faded.

Sold the truck so not sure. Should last a few years.
@theegloriouschewsten34104 жыл бұрын
For me it lasted a couple months, i live in cali so its always hot, if you wash it in heat then it comes off easily, especially with a pressure washer so honestly ur better off buying one for like $80 online

Great video.i`m gonna paint my radiator grill next weekend along with both new front headlight covers.I bought the semigloss black instead of satin .Will the semigloss look bad or is it just my preference?

It's really your preference. I like more flat looking paint, but semigloss will probably look good as well.

@brucea.48287 жыл бұрын
NO need to remove the headlights - grill will come right out - then remove the park/signal bulb/sockets ..... Just to save some time - plus it’s less risk of damaged components and misaligned headlights ... Just saying.
@worshipwhilewewait9 ай бұрын
One missing key - whether it's TPO, polypropolene, ABS, ANY kind of plastic in order for ANY kind of paint to stick to it MUST be cleaned with acetone (remove wax, grease, contaminates, ect. and YES he should've sanded!!!) . That's only IF you want to paint it and NOT have to paint it again. The way here you'll be doing it again and again and again...40+ yrs exp. tells that.

Wrong paint for this purpose unless you are planning on peeling it off and changing to a different color later. Looks good now but this type paint is soft and won't hold up on a grill. Don't take my word for it, call Plasticoat.
@stoneyswolf5 жыл бұрын
Why not just use paint? Plastidip will peel off.
