Read tons of comments and not a single person here seems like they’ve painted professionally. I watched your video for 5 seconds and can already tell you a HUGE no no that you’ve done before painting. NEVER use cloth that is dingy and falling apart to prep your painting surface. You risk whatever dirt/debris is caught in the strings being left behind on your prepped surface. You also risk leaving behind stray strings/threads that you wouldn’t notice without a thorough inspection. You can see thread caught under the plastidip in the before and after transition photos/videos. Sprayed paint unfortunately magnify whatever is caught underneath and only gets worse upon adding extra coats so it’s VERY crucial nothing stays on the surface and nothing lands on the surface while curing. Outside of that, your technique is great.

@kodasanders72082 жыл бұрын
@@sxmori that would probably work but if you’re cheap you can just use like a polyester type cloth. Essentially nothing stringy or falling apart just because a string may be left behind that you may not catch until you’ve sprayed your first layer. Nothing’s worse than picking cotton fiber out of your paint because you’ll almost never get a smooth texture again unless you wipe it down and start from scratch.

@@haleymariefoster Mine has been on my truck for over a year now and it looks the same as it did when I put it on! And I get multiple car washes each week

Nice!! How does the plasti dip not come off of the letters?
@snoochybooch3 жыл бұрын
I guess because the letters aren't flush to the car

Great video! Did you use pure rubbing alcohol or dilute it with water to clean the areas/what ratio if so? Did you use 70% or 90% isopropyl alcohol?
@kccreations59452 жыл бұрын
I don’t remember but I believe it was isopropyl, not sure of the percentage. Really just clean it with anything and let it dry first!

Is plasti dip durable? If it comes off the body of the car so easily, will it come off the emblems/logos just as easily? Like will it be durable in car washes? Or is this something that has to be done periodically?
@kccreations59453 жыл бұрын
It’s not a permanent solution but I’ve had mine on my truck for at least 6 months now and go through the car wash at least twice a week and it looks the same as it did! Just make sure to Do 4-5 coats!

Great👍🏻. How much this plastidip long last on the emblem with the color without fade off?? I want to try it.

If you ceramic coat the surface it can last for years

I think this would easily peel off dont you think? Like peeling around what you did. Might do it to my Toyota Celsior.

Who has done this. How does it hold up too washing the car. Like drive in car washes. Or jet washers but obviously not going too close too coated area with pressure washer. Thanks

Does it stay on after washing your car? Or does it peel off?
@bigd70723 жыл бұрын
Did it on my Tahoe, did about 4 coats. It's stayed on for about 2 and a half years now with no chips or anything. It'll hold even with washing

how long do they last after applying the paint? does it change color or get affected by UV?

I put 4 coats on my truck in March of 2020 and it's peeling. My truck is always outside so if it's garage kept i would think it will last longer

If you wanted to spray a clear coat of plasti dip over the black to give a high gloss would you do it after you have peeled the black or before?
@kccreations59452 жыл бұрын
Probably before you’ve peeled it since you have a newspaper covering it and it won’t get on your car!
