I'm exited. Not only does the Specter has several theorical fun builds but being able to adjust your build between full healing Harriers to hybrid Plague Doctor or even full dps Vipers with some new item stats for little boon duration... Was it 3 wells 40% boon uptime is permanern Alacrity if the balance is the same... if you can play plague doctor in Fractals I will main Specter, if that is not enough Healing I will consider full Harriers or go Alacrity dps ...

the bugs arent nearly as bad as the ones for Untamed and Mech. Those have some wacky coding on their AI and other things. The worst bug i have found on Specter is Sc/P 3 randomly shadowstepping you around the map.

In pvp I found specter to be the most polished and least buggy out of all of the beta specs. I mainly just played Sind's build though - super fun

have you not been paying attention? Thief always gets the best of the best. Best melee damage dealer, best long range damage dealer, longest range damage dealer, most acrobatic damage dealer, most impossible to pin down, most impossible to kill, etc. "best healer/reviver in the entire game" was pretty much inevitable. phuk this game.

@@Ryuki19n I don't know mate. Thief is actually pretty sick everywhere. There is no competitive team without a thief, it's unkillable as a roamer in WvW, open world ist like screw you I go invis. The only place thief is lacking in is group Support in PvE.

@@martinsch oh no doubt I love playing thief in pvp and wvw. The high skill cap play makes it rewarding. However in high end pve, it is sorely lacking. You'll rarely find a group in need of a thief over a quickbrand, quick scrapper, chronos, alac mirage, alcren, hell even holos.

I think Plaguedoctors might be meta on this. The torment from Rot Wallow Venom counts as your attacks, and the amount of barrier you share out with some of the traits is based on your barrier, which is based on your health. Zealots worked too with Sword 2 being a 2 part shadowstep.

my only dislike is that this basically completes the missing healer element of the trinity (cause Druid and Scourge were not full/complete on Priest/Cleric, they were incomplete) but as a thief main, i'm glad I wont be turned away from pugs anymore

I don't think Specter is designed for that. It's healing/barrier, condi or perma alac. Harbinger and Catalyst are probably the new specs that will fill the perma quickness roles

I know this is probably not the same thing that you normally deal with. but Specter is going to be meta in WvW. It does insane barrier, healing and utility. I lacks condi cleanse and stun breaks but it is really really strong. The trait to double tap your shroud and pump out 10k barrier (in vitality gear for WvW)

I'm a new player, just reached lvl 80 on 2 characters, but when I jump into lvl 80 content I get obliterated everytime, while open world Tyria was a piece of cake. So, any of you veterans reckon a place in game where I could practice combat (while actually playing and progressing). I tried soloing HoT maps, Dungeons, etc, but its just a huge gap from the earlier content. And doing with ppl is just braindead clicking

Just take ur time and learn the profession you're playing. Learn what conditions and boons do. Also make sure to organize a good build from websites like Meta battle for the content you are playing. You can also fix a build on your own if you are into reading tooltips and finding synergies among the different traits. Don't be in a rush to play hard content. Just progress naturally. Maybe find a group of people who are new as well and try dungeons and fractals with them to avoid being blamed by veterans who want to complete shit fast. When you become comfortable with your profession and build, then you can just join random groups and optimize your runs. It's an mmo, you cannot expect to do extremely well immediately. There is a learning curve and as long as you put a little bit of effort to climb that curve, it's really not that hard. Also there is no specific content that is easier for lvl80. The core game is just simple and easy so you are feeling the jump from easy mode to normal mode. We've all been there and you just need to stick with it until you figure things out. Enjoy!

The best advice i can give you is to run some tanky gear and take the time to learn tour class (maybe the first step is to learn what is your burst combo, I can try to help if you say your build) For the gear, I reccomend rabid gear for condi builds and knight/Valkyre for power, as those are quite cheap. Then progress to trailblazer/viper for condi and marauder/berserker for power. If you haven't done the halloween achiev that gives you a full exotic acount bound set, now it's a great time!

Thanks, guys! I like trying to figure traits/combos alone, but you helped a lot to just understand the path I can take right now. I mean, it wasnt engaging to practice builds at Tyria, and it was way too frustrating trying to figure it out solo at HoT maps. I will give PoF a try and also build tankier, just so I can learn combos, mechanica

Look in LFG tool for a Tier 4 Verdant Brink squad in HOT. That way you can practice against harder combatants in HOT with others in the squad but you can also get a exotic armor reward at the end of the meta that gives you a choice of an exotic armor piece that can give you any stat currently in the game. You can also use the currency from that map to buy the same type of armor as what is given as a reward.

I would be surprised if the Specter goes live in this state. All of the Elite specs in the beta events were the first public drafts. Now ANet can use the oodles of feedback they got to make changes to the specs before we see them again. This is how the beta process works. Testers get a product that might look ready to ship and still needs a lot of work. Bladesworn: conceptually amazing, plays like a lemon. Mechanist: Conceptually amazing, feels like the Engineer is completely superfluous and it's mech with an Engineer. Specter: Conceptually good, WAY overturned in a way that'll leave pretty much everyone else in the dust, especially if specs such as druid are brought in line. It's irresponsible content creation to say, "this is how it'll be," when the next iteration seen can be vastly different in both ´feel and output.
