About 12 years ago, my employer changed office locations. As a result, my commute changed from 35-45 minutes to about 2 hours. My headaches involved tremendous nausea and vomiting. I used to be able to head for home early and could just make it home before losing lunch at the old location. No way could I hold out for the new 2 hour commute. Thankfully, I requested working from home and was allowed to do so, although I would go into the office occasionally. That allowed me to work for several more years before retiring. In fact, being able to take a short break (nap) when I felt a migraine coming on helped a lot. I ended up being more productive and much happier working from home. A win for me and my employer. If you can do your job remotely you may want to ask your company - in writing - to let you try to work from home.

This is assuring. For the past few days ive had bad brain fog, unable to remember much of anything, completely freaked me out because ive never experienced it before. As soon as the migraine hit it went away.

Thank you :) The weather in the UK may be a factor but we also have a bad track record when it comes to disabilities (eg with work accommodations and provision in schools) which may make the situation here worse. Loss of spatial awareness was a major issue for me when I had Mal de Debarquement Syndrome (which can have migraine in the mix) and I also had cognitive/vestibular interactions which made life very challenging and cost me my career. Even now I am in remission from MdDS some of these issues persist but that could be due to a previous history of head injuries. It would be great to see future studies on brain fog for people with conditions like MdDS and specific types of migraine like Vestibular Migraine (which can be 'silent' so hard to diagnose). I really enjoyed this podcast - many thanks again.

Thank you so much for your podcasts. I also have daily chronic migraines. My husband has noted that I am forgetting more now. That is devastating to me. This podcast about brain fog and cognitive issues is very important to me. 😊

Thank you for the information! I agree and just wish that Employers and the Disability Association understood this. They make it so hard to survive while finding and receiving treatment when you can no longer work. This is NOT something we chose and I wouldn’t wish it on anyone! 😢

Was weather patterns asked about as this maybe one reason for different country results My migraines are a result of a TBI and weather plays a big role. Particularly 24 hours before storms or weather change. Sunny days sunny head

The CaMEO study is an exciting development that I plan to delve into. Great information presented here about the cognitive effects of migraine. I can absolutely relate to the pressure and necessity to hide this symptom especially at work. Thank you for your efforts to bring awareness about migraine to a larger audience.

You ladies are speaking my language; I struggled with this since 19 years old, including unexplained visual disturbances that don't fit the mold. However, through preservation and will, I graduated EE and got a law degree, and had a wonderful career, and learned to work around the "cycles". However, you are correct, there is a cycle of of a brain storm at play that puts us at a disadvantage. Or, ... perhaps ... it ultimately helps us ... as a genetic mutation. Who knows.

Oh different countries having different medications should be criminal in our "all inclusive world". The hypocritical "kumbaya" in this world is unavoidable.

Please stop “mhm”-ing and “yeah”-ing while the speaker is answering. It disrupts the auto gain on the software and makes their next few words hard to hear and understand. It’s not a one on one discussion, it’s an interview.
