It's what separates him from Cobra Kai. He may not be the sharpest tool in the shed, he may be blunt as hell, but he has MORALS, and he is empathetic to those under his wing. Kreese has virutally ZERO empathy, and has allowed for his traumatic time in Vietnam to completely dictate the way he lives his life.

If Tory really cared about Miguel then she would've visited him at the hospital or his apartment after the school fight. If she had time to train at the dojo then she had time to check up on Miguel and never did. And when she ran into Miguel by complete coincidence she tried to make the whole thing about her and tried to justify her anger issues and the riot she started.

I wish we saw more of it (he's still my favorite character) -- but then everybody had to go blaming him for Miguel's injury, more or less because of this message. The main reason to why she didn’t listen to him is because she relate more on Kreese les point of view. If you look back in Episode 6 from S2, Tory and Miguel have an argument about whether they should listen to Johny and Kreese.

Well remember at the time they didn't know he stole the medal of honor (I don't think Miyagi's dojo has any security cameras so there's no evidence of Hawk breaking in and stealing the medal of honor). And Hawk was reprimanded for his actions in s2 and 4.

I think that's a big reason why Hawk turned. When Johnny was penalising them for following their teachings on Robby during the tournament, he only gave a proper explanation to Miguel. Hawk missed out on those moments, and as a result came to the conclusion that Johnny doesn't stick to his own teachings. If he included Hawk in those conversations, things might have turned out differently.
