Notwithstanding this specific shot, I've noticed that Rodriguez (at least lately) often doesn't really lunge in when picking up an opponent's drop or boast. It's like he almost "runs" through them, so much so that he has to literally push himself back from the wall afterwards. I wonder if he does it to recover faster, to conserve energy, to avoid injury or for some other reason. But it's certainly uncommon among the pros.
