Mine went 482,000 miles before the engine oil pump failed. That resulted in the engine freeze’d up and died a horrible death on the side of the hwy

Love the 420A motor over all a great motor I got mine un messed with and I keep up with it and it’s been fully deleted and have a nice cold are a old tuner mag one and a beautiful bolt on set of heads and will be doing port and polished intake and all that new injection e85 and lots more to do they run great the only down fall is most is aluminum you just have to be careful but the sound and way those duel over head four cylinders run and sound are amazing but over all the 420A motors boosted are amazing takes a lot tho it’s easier to run a 4g but over all the 420 is the best motor it’s old school 🦅

I had a 95 RS that I loved (1st car) then bought a 1998 GS-T…engine blew and was forced to sell….i miss both those cars…sold them for an 07 Roush stage 3….about ti buy a 1999 GS Spyder with the 4G64

Just swapped a 420a blown for a newer one honestly I wish I had got the gsx but cause at the time I didn’t realize the difference between the turbo and non turbo but i had purchased the car already and so I hilt it back and it’s actually pretty quick and I had new headers new cold air and wrapped the headers…plus I take good care of the engine…..but I feel km hated on for the 420 even knowin I heard they are more reliable

Lol yeah it's true they are more reliable, I had one with 350k miles on it and still going strong before a relative killed it. The RS is the one that that's best for doing the Evo drivetrain swap so you made the right choice if you keep the car and go that far with it. This dude has a video about that on his channel since that's what he did with one of his.

Bought a 97 GSX white original paint 36,000 original miles. Replace the T 24 turbo with a T 26, managed to get the boost up to 20 psi with the original fuel pump and injectors. 300 HP all-wheel drive at the wheels. Broke five transmissions, but two new off-the-shelf Mitsubishi transmissions last two of the West Coast, broke axles, broke lsds in one week, beat Porsches, but what a money pit, sent it to church auction for a tax deduction. Gave up only designed for 220 horsepower from the factory nothing more.

DSMs are not notorious for being u reliable... they're notorious for being such good cars that you can squeak 500hp out of a stock engine with new synchros in the tranny. DSMs are notoriously unreliable because they're so easy to mod and turn the boost up and people don't do supporting mods.. they're SUPER EASY to work on and the power plant is tried and true

It’s actually not bad to have a 420a eclipse because for a teenager it’s just perfect but if u put an exhaust that’s like not a cat back it will sound like a riced Honda Civic

Definitely not, eclipses are bottom of the bottom when it comes to JDM. If the Japanese actually would have made these cars I feel like they would be better but a 420A shoved into a JDM chassis is so wrong. Also they’re just unreliable. Do you have a vr4? Bc I’m sure that’s a bitch to maintain even tho it’s a cool ass car

That’s just shit luck clean build tho sick car but the 1st motor from like a 91gsx I’ve found to b most reliable yea may not make exact same power as yours but I beat mine daily redline daily like a Honda for yrs replaced head gasket clutch basic maintenance but I got it with 90k sold it with 180k but as we all no having nice cars such as urs it does tent to cost

Why is the whole “I’m being looked down on” for having a non turbo thing such a big deal? I’ve seen and read that stuff on KZbin and forums. Who the hell cares. I just got a 95 420a and I’m working on it. I can care less about the “community” unless the “community” is paying for my parts and putting in the time installing them for me then they can suck on my exhaust pipe. Oh and I’m still putting a GSX decal on the back! Take that “community” 😂🎉. At the end of the day it’s the car you drive and own and pay for. Public opinion is the least of my worries as it should be for everyone else. Enjoy it for yourself, who cares what anyone else thinks. Rant complete

@@ukiyo8024 no I haven't, well known fact in the community period so why waste the money to keep proving what already been proven. 4g63's guy have made 600whp on stock blocks, 420a's are lucky to make 200whp on stock internals before blowing up....... its already been hashed out for almost 2 decades...... to make the same power as the 4g out of a 420a you've gotta go fully forged internals. If you go basic forged internal's your still only capable of matching the stock potential of a 4g. You've got to go full out most expensive internals you can get to make it to 800hp, then do that to the 4g63 and your 1400+hp capable. I rest my case.

@@ukiyo8024 I never said they were shit.....I said they make good parts cars. You like what you like that's fine. The 420A is also what killed the credibility of the eclipse as a serious tuner car, did more damage to the eclipse name then even the 3g or 4g did.

the boxer motor is the hardest 4cyl engine to work on by far. they're not anymore reliable than a eclipse/talon/laser and much harder to modify
