I bought one (2015) with 9 thousand miles on it in 2018. Gas is the way to go in my area because there are few charging places and also I don't have to worry about long distances, power outages and cold weather. Great on narrow roads in my small town. Great for parking because they make the spaces so small to park in, yet they make the vehicles bigger and bigger. Great because I have no car payment and I could give two sh!ts what other people think who have no idea what they are talking about. I traded a 2002 Chevrolet 2500HD with a 6.0 liter for this car.

Own 3. 2009 and 2 X 2015. Upgraded one of the 2015s. Springs from an electric Smart raised it up 2 inches. Wider Rial wheels allow wider Yokohama tires. Huge improvement in ride. Ventilated disc brakes up front. Yakima roof rack. Curt tow hitch. Scoop for air intake. Fun car.

The paddles on the electric Smart car are to adjust the regen for the braking .

My favorite city car! Oh and the paddles change regeneration braking mode. There are three levels of energy recuperation and also a no-recuperation mode, where the car is most similar to an ICE after releasing the throttle - it would continue coasting. I love one pedal driving with some EVs, however, this one won't stop even in the highest recuperation setting.

I love my electric drive! Pretty much maintenance free except for tires every 27K miles and desiccant for the battery every two years, which you can EASILY do yourself.

We have the 2008 Cabriolet in blue, only dislikes; odd stereo speaker setup, front suspension hits hard. Lots of head room, park anywhere, 39 mpg, space behind seats can handle six bags of mulch, quiet, conversation starter.

Handling is pretty high performance. You can corner at very high speeds. This is due to the mid-engine and short wheel base design.
