How on earth did Blackbeard give Shanks his scar? We know that Shanks got his scar sometime between Uta's first appearance (when he didn’t have the scar) and his first meeting with Luffy (when he did). This means the scar was inflicted within those six years. Back then, Shanks already had a bounty of a billion berries, and Blackbeard didn’t have any Devil Fruit powers. So how is that possible? Blackbeard struggled against Ace when he wasn't using his Devil Fruit, and that was years later!

In order to differentiate from the seraphim/mihawk, this shows just how much stronger Blackbeard is now, slashes like that used to do a lot of damage to him (Whitebeard vs Blackbeard for a example) now he’s able to ether negate it properly with his haki alone or minimize it to the point he can handle it, on top of the fact he already had insane pain tolerance, his devil fruit, the dark-dark fruit, not only prevents him going intangible, it also doubles his damage to himself.

Here's something to consider. This seraphim is essentially, at minimum, as strong as Dracul when he was young. By himself, he was making Blackbeard, arguably Luffy's greatest rival, retreat and struggle. What's more, Zoro's intent is to one day surpass Dracul and become the world's greatest swordsman. So, consider now just how high that bar actually is for him to surpass, and how strong Zoro is now. After all, since the movies' power scalings are canon, Zoro can cut a meteor clean in half, whereas Dracul completely obliterated it into smaller, more manageable pieces. Unless Zoro finds some new form of haki to further improve his skill, he's got a genuinely long way to go. That or Mihawk has to die so there's no other opposition.

Oda has epploited the best way that hid the fact that sometimes the most feared character is the one who is seeking no outcome from the story.... Mihawk is definitely stronger than the Yonko as he has displayed Yonko feats without displaying his Haki... and posseses them all, including 1 that only 2 in the series are confirmed to have. His power will need to be on display in the final war. I believe it will take 2 or 3 commanders of the other Yonko to take him out as they did Big mom with Law and Kid.. and then possibly a big fight between him and Zoro that will end like Luffy and Katakuri

Edit: Please read all of it. It would mean a lot to me. I used to wonder why blackbeard is such a threat, and how could such a weakling ever show us more than what his stolen devilfruits can do. But I was wrong. Backbeard knew that he was physically weak, and despite that, he had great faith in himself that he can overcome it. Because Blackbeard wouldn't make a good captain, he preffered to stay in WB's shadow, until he was finally ready to step into the new world. Blackbeard always wanted the One Piece, and he must have known that WB is soon to be past his prime. BB wouldn't follow anyone less than the Pirate King, but if WB cannot make it, he should make it himself. BB played his cards right, and look at him now, he can hold his stand against those monstruous Seraphims, he is feared and he even received such a tremendous bounty. And that's how this "weakling" is not only an emperor, but a very strong one. He may still not have the strength of others, but he's a true pirate that even draws respect from others, always fights as a team, just what Luffy does. The only difference between them is BB not fair, but what is fair if not something that can slow you down in your pursuit to greatness? It's never fair that someone is just better than you, and BB is at least as great as Luffy. Ialso wonder how big BB's fleet is. Probably at least as big as Whitebeard's. Blackbeard is at least as good as Luffy, and he certainly had great hardships during the time-skip. He's even the final winner of Marineford. He defeated them all, including Luffy and the whitebeard pirates. He's the one who got to kill Whitebeard, and he's the one the Navy wouldn't dare to touch. They stopped trying to catch him and rather chose to give him the change of getting stronger. Not only that he had a small crew, but he managed to build a big enough crew during a war, not during peaceful times. He's certainly capable to attract others, at least as capable as Luffy. Luffy vs Blackbeard. Probably Luffy, and not just for the sake of the plot, but right now, I wouodn't be surprised if BB found the One Piece first, and Luffy ultimately winning because One Piece is deeply tied with JoyBoy, and Blackbeard losing because he simply isn't JoyBoy. But is that unfair towards Blackbeard? As luffy himself admitted, a pirate fight is always unfair, and the winner is always better. Remember, BB may not be that strong, but neither was Roger when he fought Rocks, even his crew was not enough to stand against someone who's stronger, and Rocks was certainly stronger than Roger, but Roger had to cheat and to ask Garp for help. So maybe Luffy is the one who resembles Rocks, and Blackbeard resemples Roger. That's why he respects Raileigh, that's why he didn't respect Whitebeard. On top of that, he's now got one of the strongest marines on his side, and so did Roger when asking for help from Garp.
