haki is something the crew has used pre timeskip but hasnt mastered it yet. Take zoro for example: he gained the ability to cut steel. According to hyogoro in wano, he said that they can cut steel but not paper if he so desires (with haki). And remember, that is the same thing that his sensei told him, its more of the object's breathing. Also zoro, he dodged the falling things and sensed that there is a spot where nothing will land on. thats two haki types in 1 episode, armament and observation.

Nah, even at Luffy’s current level, he wouldn’t be able to win. Mihawk kinda rivals Shanks. Why do I say this? Well he’s still considered greatest swordsman, despite shanks also being one.

Mihawk >= shanks > luffy, it'd be a high diff fight but definitely not extreme because of matchup. Luffy's vulnerability to slashes put against mihawk's ranged slash attacks (which are definitely stronger than kaido's) will put him down pretty fast, despite his superior strength and hax

Maybe it’s just me but I find it amazing how characters like Mihawk one of the strongest characters in existence, can acknowledge luffy will and strength, although he can quite literally take his life at any moment, he sees the potential and wants to see a new generation thrive that has great potential that could even surpass himself, same with zoro after telling him to come back after he’s a master, I mean honestly you know a character is truly great when they see greatness in others, the saying “greatness recognizes greatness” couldn’t be more true.
