Mihawk is part of what they called The Seven Warlords. They consists of Pirates whose strength or influence so great that the World Government reached a treaty where they help the marines thin down the population of pirates in return they can do whatever they want under their domain.

Fun fact: the author of One Piece was originally going to name Sanji "Naruto" but the show Naruto was about to be released right around the time Sanji was about to be introduced in One Piece, so he changed the name to Sanji. In the manga, Sanji has eyebrows that look like the naruto swirl found in Ramen.

Mihawk didnt redirect anything towards the ship, he simply slashed toward the ship and hes so powerful the air he cut sent a shockwave/air slash towards the ship that cut it in half. Mihawk is a glimpse of what the top tiers of the one piece world are capable of

Zoro says "wounds on the back are a swordsman's greatest shame" basically means a true swordsman wouldn't retreat from a fight even when he's lost. Zoro knew he lost so he was taking it with pride and accepting his faith

I've always loved Mihawk and Zoro. Mihawk just talking shit and toying with him at first because Zoro wasn't worth it. He was just some punk kid. But the moment he saw Zoro's eyes and how much heart and conviction he had, that all stopped. He used his actual sword and took him serious for the final attack. Zoro earned his respect for actually having honor, so he let him live and encouragement to fight him again down the line.

The Warlord system in the One Piece world is basically inspired by Privateers during the real life great pirate era in the Carribbean in the 17th century where you have pirates that are granted pardon by the government, so they can still do pirating stuff as long as they share what they get with the government and do whatever the government ask them to do (basically being the government's lapdogs, they're commissioned by the government to carry out certain jobs/missions usually when the government don't want to get their hands dirty). Someone correct me if I'm wrong here, but I guess it's the gist of it. In the One Piece world, The Marines under the World Government's control select 7 powerful pirates to be what I just described, and that's why Mihawk's bounty is shown as canceled since while he's a pirate he's also working for the World Government and the Marines.

nami is the one that manages the crew's money since most of the rest of the crew is pretty financially irresponsible, particularly in early one piece. luffy would spend it on food, zoro on alcohol, usopp with junk and gizmos either for his stories or to fiddle with to make inventions.

True, and her, charging them with berries is not something she would only spend for herself. It's like asking them for fair share to buy all of them clothes, drinks, foods, stocks, ship equipments, and stuffs. She saves some berries in case the ship needs to be fixed. People just misunderstood her for being too greedy with money, but never even think of where she could possibly spend the money for. It benefits all of them. She knows her crew and her captain loves foods and drinks so much so she needs to budget their money. Plus, nami grow up with being poor. And money is the only thing that could've save their mother. That's why she become greedy to have money. I remember when she didn't hesitate to use all of their money to save and buy Camie back.

Let's be honest: Nami is the one person holding the crew together, they would *not* survive or get anywhere without her! In fact Emily Rudd (who plays Nami) said it best: Luffy is the Captain but Nami is the *boss*

@@friendlyotaku9525 i think that was even implied in the manga at some point by luffy. something along the lines of "you're the navigator, i'm JUST the captain" to show how much luffy and everyone else relies on nami to tell them what to do, particularly in early one piece since she, as the one with the most sailing experience, actually tells them what to do with the sails or where to go. despite zoro being first mate, nami is the one that actually runs the ship

@@ZainKaneko True, she's the most experienced one. I remember when she was sick, and Zoro is the one who's watching the pose and cloud. But they're almost got hit by the huge cyclone, good thing nami went out for a bit and immediately predicted what's going to happen and what's coming by reading the wind by her own body. And she's sick. She's so amazing. I'm sad that some fans doesn't value her skills that much instead they're so focus on her weaknesses.

Like in many other anime, the clothes of the characters are pretty iconic and remain the same for most of the story. However, in One Piece, sometimes, an entirely different set of clothes are used for everyone for the duration of one story arc. In the live action, they integrated those with specific attires from specials / OVAs / movies, with attires that appear only on certain manga covers (like Nami's red _qipao_ last episode), and even with concept art (like Nami's very first attire in episode 1). I think it's a brilliant move, because not only it guarantees variety and makes things more fresh and less ridiculous, but at the same time it still provides long time fans with attires that look familiar and appropriate to those characters, even if we don't remember exactly where they have been taken from.

The marine hierarchy is basically captain - vice admiral - admiral - fleet admiral, there's still some other titles I missed but I dont think they're relevant yet. So basically a fleet admiral is like the General, so that person would be in charge of the entire worldwide marine force. I think that should show you how highly respected Garp is to be offered that position multiple times and he's also the main opposition for Gold Roger so u do the math of how strong he is He's also casually capable of ordering Mihawk around eventough he didn't listen, granted Mihawk doesn't listen to anyone. But still it still takes something to stand infront of him and just orders him around casually

In case you miss it, the starving guy that sanji fed said that he's in don krieg's crew, the guy in golden armor that mihawk defeated. That means mihawk won vs 50 ships and 5000 people.

Yah the scene transitions from mihawk defeating a big group of pirates and then here the dude comes saying we got defeated all 50 ships and 5000 of his crew mates. Though I do get why it doesn't connect easily because the live action is in a speed run and is skipping some small plot points and this is one instance where they speed run.

Obviously for fans that read/watch the source knew who he was, but I think it's fair to LA world to assume Gin could be in a different group with Kriegs.

I find it really nice that when Luffy and the others were in the mist ussop was the first to spot the name of the restaurant, which makes so much sense because he's the sniper of the crew and he's one of the best marksmen in the entire show... There's also another reason why he could've seen it through the mist and it could be foreshadowing depending on how you see it but I'm not going to spoil it. All and all good video love your reaction to this series, a lot of one piece fans seem to think the live action was terrible, but I thought it was great, I would Even argue it's the best live action in anime history. But yeah, great video.

Mihawk's appearance and a little showcase of his power is just a taste of whats to come in the upcoming seasons if the series continues... what mihawk showed is only .01% and shows that the straw hat crew have a long ways to go... the script for season 2 is already done but with the writers strike still ongoing, they will start when the strike ends but they are assuming that production will start around 1 year 6 months...

In one piece, great swordsman can sort of project the energy/power of their slashes over a long distance. So Mihawk basically sliced the ship in two with his sword from the shore.

here's the deal on mihawk since you seem to have missed it somehow: mihawk along with six other pirates are so powerful that rather than go to the trouble of fighting them the government actually made a deal with the seven of them. Their bounties are rescinded meaning no bounty hunters and marines will harass them and in exchange the Seven Warlords as they're called have to do whatever the government wants them to do as well as give a portion of any treasure they steal to the government.

So I noticed you guys got a bit distracted during the 7 Warlords explanation. Basically there are 7 insanely strong pirates the government gives free reign to, in order to hunt other pirates. So they kinda loosely work for the government, but get to do their own thing for the most part.
