Hi Mike. All your videos are great, including this one. Your videos are well organized and logical. You must be an engineer. Please keep them coming. Thanks.

Maybe an engineer, or maybe just German.

Every time I see a Mikael video I learn something new. Thank for the Mapy cz link . :D
@BikeTouringMike5 жыл бұрын
Maybe I forgot to mention it in the video, but in order to find cycle paths in mapy.cz you have to click the Change Map thing in the upper left corner and choose Outdoor. Then you will have to zoom down a couple of levels and the cycle pats will appear as pink lines.

Thanks Mikael, great sum-up of the trip...hoping to do Regensburg to Vienna this summer. Keeping my fingers crossed for weather conditions similar to that you guys had last year. Thanks again...have a good one!

Our tour was in the first half of June. I think June is a pretty safe month weather wise. Usually pretty stable weather. When are you going?
@jerryz.30875 жыл бұрын
@@BikeTouringMike ...it will definitely be in June, not sure exactly though. My daughter has a trip planned for us once we get to Germany, so I'm just have to work outside of that. Really looking forward to it. ..it's like one of those life long dreams.

Hi there, Just wondering how you found your camp sites, do you think this trip is doable solo. And I am wanting to add in Cesky Krumlov to my trip, just wondering if you have any advice on which section to catch the train for this to happen?
@BikeTouringMike5 жыл бұрын
Hi Birgit! There is a map over the whole greenway system over at www.pragueviennagreenways.org/gwmap.html. As you can see in that map there is actually a section (that we skipped on out trip) that goes by Cesky Krumlov. I would really have loved to go by that town, but unfortunately we didn't have enough time. Regarding doing a solo tour, you could very well do this tour sole. Depending on when you go, but during the summer months there are a lot of bike tourists doing this tour so you will certainly meet other people along the way to chat with. We found the camp sites on the go. We didn't book anything. Often we started looking on Google Maps at our lunch break to see which campground would be reachable during that particular day, and then we aimed for one of them. Sometimes we didn't even end up at campgrounds and stayed in Penzions (Bed and Breakfasts) instead.

Can anyone assist me with using GPX files and the bikemap app? I am paying for the premium subscription. When I download a route it says that the route is too large and tells me to download the regional map. Then when I download the regional map it still doesn't work. What am I doing wrong????

Grazie

How were your Schwalbe tires on this trip? Any flats?

No, I haven't had any flats on any of my Schwalbe tires so far.

@@BikeTouringMike great to here Mikael not like the tires of yesterday where you got flats once in a while. so I can bike with no fear of flats.

Schwalbe Marathons are great. But they have one drawback, and that is that they are a bit trick to fit on the rim when you install them.

MrSmradoch :-) yeah, you butchered that one, but that's ok, it's just a funny name someone decided to use, means Mr. Stinky. Great job otherwise, good info and great inspiration, thanks for sharing!

Thanks for the overview, nice distance and still full on. Which program did you use to plot the route then add to a Garmin. I having a Garmin touring but cannot use it very well.
@BikeTouringMike5 жыл бұрын
I use a website called ridewithgps.com to plot my routes. From that site I then export my route as a .fit to my Garmin and as a .kml to Maps.me. I plan to do a video about all of this pretty soon. It's easier to describe visually.

Hey, I’m doing this trip in the fall. How to you find campsites? Did you plan them ahead of time if so is there a site for this? Also, this is my first tour using gps. I’m an American so I’m planning on getting an EU SIM card. Will that work in this area? Thanks!
@BikeTouringMike5 жыл бұрын
We just searched for campsites on Google Maps. We usually started searching for campsites after lunch, when we had an idea of how far we would be able to go that particular day. The EU has banned roaming fees as of 2017. But there is still some problem with certain carriers I believe. I use Telia here in Sweden and they work fine all over Europe for no extra fees.

Hi Tom! I've watched your video. Video quality looks really crisp! I'm jealous of how far into spring you are there in the UK. We got a major setback this weekend, with another 30 cm of snow. So we're at 1 meter of snow depth right now :-(
