I personally think MVA200 feels lighter than molten when receiving (both serve and spike). And molten drops much faster than MVA200 if the ball has top spin.
@TOPCyber5 жыл бұрын
I absolutely love this ball! I am a setter too and you are right that the ball can be a little slippery when wet. But the touch of the ball is amazing. It feels good when taking reception, serving and setting. In our competition here in Belgium we also use Gala balls and they don't have the right feel for me. A lot stiffer, harder to the touch etc. Nothing better than the MVA200 in my book!
@tomosato77885 жыл бұрын
Except for doing float serves, the MVA200 makes everything harder. Jump serves. Spiking with topspin. Setting (more due to sweat than anything). Passing. A couple of good male players that I used to play with said that they like it because it exposes weaknesses in a person's skillset. I feel like it was designed to slow the pace of play even at the top level. The other way to see it is that at lower levels, it's probably not a good ball to play with if you want faster pace, more offense, etc. I personally like a broken-in and underinflated Tachi or Super Touch for open gyms and such. Keeps the level of play decent...

Tomo Sato huh I never thought about that way 👍

Ahh, that's interesting, I never knew. My school uses MVA200 almost ALL the time, like 9/10 of our balls are MVA200 so we're used to playing with it but not with the softer ones.
@tomosato77884 жыл бұрын
@@ruon1234 It really depends what level you play at and where you play (leagues? tournaments? club?) If there is a ball that you HAVE to play with in games, always best to practice with that specific ball type. Otherwise, if playing recreationally and can both afford and get: Molten IV5F-3, Tachikara 5W-PRIME. Baden VCOR, or Decathlon Allsix V900. If going cheaper, at least get a Tachikara SV5WSC, Baden Lexum, Mikasa VQ2000, Decathlon Allsix V500, or Molten L2.
@tomosato77884 жыл бұрын
@@ruon1234 Great choice. It's probably the favorite of beginners because it hurts the least. I actually like the ball too since it passes easily and is good for having rallies in plays. Still, it feels a bit "light" when hitting or serving so on days where I feel like jump serving hard or playing with other good players, I have other preferences. Once you build up your arm's pain tolerance, and body is used to a slightly "heavier" feeling ball, some of the others might be fun as well.
@fluxcorenz5 жыл бұрын
I feel the mikasa has a much better lifespan than the molten - the surface of the molten accumulates dirt easily, and also the surface changes/becomes quite hard feeling after some time, whereas I find the mikasa feels the same for a very long time. In general I like playing with the mikasa more, the sweat issue is real though. Overall preference is very split in my experience - completely personal opinion on which is better.
@callmefrog764 жыл бұрын
It feels almost impossible to get this ball to topspin! I personally like the softer feel of the Tachikara volleyball. We have tried both in leagues and consensus is that the Mikasa looks cooler but it is a very DIFFICULT ball to play

For everyone asking: the reason it’s almost impossible to find one of these balls new is because Mikasa aren’t making them anymore. You’re best bet it gonna be to go with the v200w or try to find it used online.
@jani_koski4 жыл бұрын
I have never really played with any other balls myself. Few games when I started volleyball we played with the older and quite worn Mikasa model but we soon replaced it with then brand new MVA200's. I like to play all games with the same ball since it makes it easier then to go play in tournaments where they definitely have the MVA200's as playing ball. I'm not sure if you can even find any other brand licenced balls in Finland than Mikasa. At least indoor balls, beach volley ball catalogue is much larger :D Haven't yet gotten my hands for the V200W in game but tried it at shop once and it felt pretty good then. Looking forward to getting it into play someday :) Our playing group has three of these balls and the newest one is definitely the hardest one to play with. Older balls have softened a bit so they have more grip and are probably a bit more friendly for less experienced players to handle. I like to think that it has to be given at least a little credit to MVA200 ball itself that my setting technique has developed to the point it is nowadays :D

This ball is the nemesis of my team. We use a Gala of some sort as our ball for our games, and the only three games this season we lost were away games where the other team plays with this Mikasa. Our receivers are already afraid of it before the game even begins, which of course makes it worse :)

So where i'm from we only have Mikasa MVA200's so thats just what i've learnt to play on. I think it's only difficult for people who haven't played alot with them. For us we have played with them since we first started and every competition has them. Since it's the Professional standard i honestly think everyone should just learn to play with them at a younger age. Maybe its because the US is a way bigger volleyball country so they need more ball brands.....? I don't know. I saw like one person talk about the V200W which i've played with and honestly, everyone I've talked to doesn't like them. The surface has a really different texture (like more of it pops out) so it sort of messes with digging.

Yeah not a fan of the MVA200. Less forgiving in terms of passing and getting a clean spin. It definitely does get slippery thus during FIVB tournaments the ball boys/girls have towels to wipe them. The Molten 5000 definitely have a better feel to it which results in better spin, and control. That being said, the ball does take longer to break in and it hurts more when getting packed.

In the south SF Bay Area, people only want to play with the flistatec, but will occasionally allow a supertouch and very rarely a tachikara. No one will EVER play with this ball- it is universally hated. Similarly for grass, it's rare to play with anything but the Spalding KOB. The point is, even if you have a preference, you're unlikely to change minds. Practicing with a different type of ball can either throw off your game or perhaps prepare you for the rare occasion of playing with a different ball.

Crucial quality of any volleyball ball is its visibility and recognizability in any place and moment. Unfortunately this ball functions as a Newton disc- when is quick and rotates, on the PC screens disappears. Moreover it creates also another opptical illusion - blurring. Such ball does not have a proper contrast from surroundings. Consequences - a risk for eyes of screen fans, poor access of volleyball into TV, lack of strong sponsors etc. Imagine the yellow lines, on every floors..
