It's crazy how much better you can hit the ball given the right technique even though you are jumping the same height...
@ElevateYourselfOfficial Жыл бұрын
For sure! That’s why technique is so critical
@sow_scout4989 Жыл бұрын
Agreed. I know shorter players that dont jump as high as taller player, yet still hit better simply because of technique.
@stevelau7694 Жыл бұрын
Need to try it out. I've always spiked without any run up but makes sense you can get higher with forward momentum so the spike will be harder

Landing on both feet or at least with a stable base is SO important. Last fall, 1st home game of the season, I was playing middle and got a terrible set way over my outside shoulder. Since I had to make a really awkward adjustment, I wasn't fully prepared to land well because I was only focused on slamming the ball down hard. Unfortunately my awkward momentum caught me off balance and I landed hard on my left knee. I tore my my lateral meniscus and played the remainder of the season, albeit far less effective than I would have been. I got surgery 4 days after the season ended and spent 3 months in recovery, not being able to work with my hitting trainers at all during the process. If you get a bad set, DO NOT sacrifice your stability to get a good hit down. It's more important to simply keep the point going and wait for another opportunity to get a good set rather than potentially ending your season for a bad one. Hope this helps!

Thank you for this! One other detail maybe that would be a part 2 to this video would be where you are transitioning from. As a right handed OH, you would be arcing into the court vs straight up the line. Left handed RS/Oppo would be arcing into the court. Right handed RS/Oppo would be running up the line. I really needed this video today so thank you for making it!
