If you don't care when you leave, they can guarantee you the exact job you want (as long as you meet the prerequisites). You might have to wait around for a while waiting for the specific job to come up. I waited for three months for a job reservation in the AFSC I wanted.

I graduated college last year with a BA in communication/journalism. I was thinking of joining the AF, but I’m kinda scared besides I don’t know how to tell my parents. They would have a heartattack😭

My advice for you is do what you feel you want to do. I know that having your parent's support is something you want but, at the end of the day you do what you feel is right for your life. Regardless if your family does or does not like it. I know this sounds brutal but just keeping it 100% on the real. Best of luck :).

I want to be a Photo/broadcast journalist in the AF but my recruiter keeps saying those are super hard to get... Told me to be tactical aircraft maintenance and then cross train into PA when the opportunity comes... I have been doing video production for 11 years in my civilian life so its just what I want to do however I am tired of the civilian life. I am 37 and currently studying for my asvab to boost up my G score to enlist. I really hope my recruiter will work with me since he is pretty much the third recruiter I went to. Unless you know a recruiter that will in the Los Angeles/Socal area.

Sooo, is this mostly a desk job? Or do you get to travel about sometimes? A video on a day in the life would be cool. Also, does Public Affairs offer different shifts / weekend duty / night shifts?
@MikaylaRoseDaly3 жыл бұрын
It's mainly a desk job but depending what base you get stationed at you will be going out during the work day and recording footage, interviewing and or taking photos. It's Monday through Friday no night or weekend shifts. I work 9-4. Before COVID, we have the opportunity to travel often.

I wanted to go into usaf as a photo journalist, but it supposedly merged with broadcasting journalist. However, now it sounds like broadcasting journalist and public affairs are either very similar jobs, or they merged as well. Also, if a Car/Vehicle is required for the Job? And if so, how much of your time is spent driving? Also,(Sorry if i'm asking too many questions) Do you have a video/blog/website on the daily life in this career? Thanks for all these videos by the way, any information is much appreciated.

I would say go for National Guard if you want to stay at the college you want to remain at! BUT they offer classes through the Air Force online if you want to do active duty. I’m honestly considering national guard since I’m a sophomore in college & if I really enjoy my time in military, I will switch to active duty! :)
