+Neil Palmer Mike really made his name in BBC's programmes Are you being served? and Worzel Gummidge. Before he was famous he used to live across the road to us in north London and would sing and play guitar to us kids!! and take us for a ride around the block and back on his scooter. The good ol days of yore - often wonder whether he recalls this?

+elizabeth sheffield I don't watch the show nor do I know how it works, but I do know that it's an insult for those (presumably) experts to comment on Mike's performance. Mike beats the absolute pants of all of those wannabes/has beens/unknowns!

@@elizabethsheffield6609 I find it a bit of an insult to say he made his name in BBC comedy shows. Before Mike started singing I prayed silently to myself - "Do something contemporary. Please sing something modern and relevant. PLEASE!" But sadly no. Mike sounded like a great 73 year old singer, sticking to what he knows best. I mean, he was accompanied to the audition by CHAS out of Chas and Dave [first hit in 1979]! Good lord. Mike has a beautiful voice, but why waste your moment on a song so hackneyed we could ride to the other side of town on it? I mean, Mike is only 3 years older than Neil Young, a year older than Mick Jagger and 5 years older than Iggy Pop! Just because you are a granddad doesn't mean you have to sing like one. Does it? Maybe it does. Oh well.
