When Lonnie Donegan wrote "I'll Never Fall in Love Again" for Sir Tom Jones more than half a century ago, he could have never had imagined this magical scene happening five decades later. His son fatefully encounter on the Voice the legend Sir Tom, for whom this piece was written, and they instantly perform with no rehearsal at all, yet with absolute amazement, as it was meant to be. This beautiful song became a true legacy from Lonnie not only to Peter and Sir Tom Jones, but to all of us who were mesmerized by their magical performance. Truly a moment to remember and pay my respects to all.
@peebeedee67572 жыл бұрын
A mistaken memory here from Tom. Lonnie Donegan had written AND recorded the song five years before Tom's version but it had bombed in the UK charts. Some years later after Tom hit the big time they became friends and at Lonnie's house near London, he pulled out his old record and said "you should do this" Rest is history.

Who would ever think that this would've come full circle. His father, Lonnie Donegan, would've been in tears himself. I remember my mom listening to him in the sixties. I always sang along with his songs. No matter what his past was, he only had one love. I could feel it when he sang this song this time, cracking in his voice (and that's not because of age) and the tears. I've listened to this over 20 times and still cry.

@@BroskiShortz The contestants registered the songs they'll perform so the band will practice before the show. Of course, they'll surely knows many songs through experience which makes it easier for them and practice only to make sure there's no slip up during the real show. @@joshuaamadeusishak1887 Not to mention that the producers knew who Peter's father was (it was in his video bio) and will have known that Tom performed one of Lonnie's songs, so would likely have forewarned them. I'd guess that Peter also practiced it in advance of the audition on the off-chance that a situation like this might come up. As an aside, without wanting to sound conspiratorial, watching the way that the other judges were encouraging Sir Tom to hit the button without hitting their own does suggest that even if Sir Tom hadn't been briefed, perhaps they had. Particularly when you consider Will's comment about this being "magical" came across as a little bit forced. Sir Tom's apparent surprise at Peter's comment about playing it on the piano does, at least, suggest that Sir Tom himself wasn't briefed in advance.
