Most pure show case of Nas talent and life before stardom!) 2) Stillmatic (no weak spots.. it show cases his range of talent to produce meaningful track.. lyrically deep, streets vs conscious themes, radio friendly included, and story telling) 3) IWW (pure heroin! Mostly one sided however bc of the street/mafia themes) 4) Lost Tapes #1 (pure gems. lyrically deep, conscious, introspection, street touches, story telling, & battle content) 5) KD3 (lyrically and flow is at top in older age. Conscious & wisdom, touch of street introspection. Excellent album)

In my opinion if you combine the best of Magic and KD3, you have an album that tops Illmatic. Thats the best compliment i can give these albums. This isnt a slight on any of the songs i left out as i believe theyre great too but im strictly talking about an album that beats Illmatic. If you take out -Ugly, Hollywood Gangsta, Dedicated and keep the rest from Magic and from KD3 add Thun, Legit, Im on Fire, First Time and Get Light i think you would have the greatest rap album ever made. People are free to disagree but lyrically and sonically to me thats absolute perfection.(it was a very difficult decision cutting Dedicated tbh). So the album would have: Speechless, Meet Joe Black, 40-16 Building, Wu 4 the Children, Wave Gods, The Truth, Legit, Thun, Im on Fire, Get Light, First Time
Kd3 my favorite nas album so for me it has jumped to number 1 spot

For me this is for sure a top 5 Nas album. I got it ranked like this 1) Illmatic 2) It was written 3) Lost Tapes 1 (it’s an album idc) 4) Stillmatic 5) KD3 Honorable mention: Magic. I used to have KD2 over Magic but the more I’ve listened to Magic, it’s aging better than KD2. KD2 has a couple songs I could’ve done without (40 side, the Em EPMD feature, and No Phony Love). I still love KD2 but Magic has no skips or glaring flaws. I remember being super annoyed with that Em feature. But yea man, greatest catalog ever by a landslide

Stillmatic intro, rewind, 2nd childhood, one mic, ether, flyest, every ghetto, what goes around, you’re da man. Stillmatic is a classic. Kd3 plays smoother and is a bit more cohesive. That’s all. Lyrically is not even close. Creatively it’s not close, not to say kd3 isn’t creative. But stillmatic is next level.
@koolkai42992 жыл бұрын
KD3 is superior sonically, has more replay value, you mention creatively yet Nas personifies Beef on KD3, is a far more versatile album with a bounce track "Hood2Hood" DJ in the park track "Get Light" and introspective track "Once a man Twice a Child" a storytelling track "Beef" multiple references to historical music figures such as Pete Rock, Quincy, Jones and Michael Jackson, and Jay-Z, and he has rapped more new words according to Hip Hop By the Numbers 843 than on any album he has ever released in his career. So I respectfully disagree.
@csiistandard2 жыл бұрын
Yes i agree. Stillmatic is ranked higher than KD3! STILLMATICs verses are highly concentrated lyrics (ex: Stillmatic Intro, One Mic, with each song have minimum 3 verses) and his artistic form is highly evident (One Mic, Rewind, What Goes Around)

On Nastradamus I only liked two songs, "Project Windows" & "Last Wordz" which still wouldn't even make the cut if I made a Top 50 Nas songs list. On Streets Discple I only liked 5 or 6 songs and only go back to "Just A Moment" with Quan which is not a good ratio for a double album. Wouldn't rate it any higher even for other rappers. My favorite tracks are Michael and Quincy,30, Recession Proof, Reminisce and Serious Interlude. The only thing I wish Nas could've done was made some of these tracks I mentioned with 3 verses that would've made the tracks so complete but overall it's a great album. There's a few tiny complaints I have like some beats changing to something not so good imo and on Legit that sample of the guy in the beginning is super annoying where I have to fast forward because it literally brothers my ears and as I said 2 verse tracks it just feels lazy as if he made it just to throw it in the album but they sound good. If I had to rate it would be about a 4.8 out of 5 Best album from Nas since Life Is Good imo.

The quality of Stillmatic drops off at track 9. Destroy & Rebuild, Rule, My Country, What Goes Around, Every Ghetto are still good songs but are not comparable to the first half and get blown out the water by almost every song off KD3. Smokin, Got Ur Self a Gun and You're da Man (as much as I love that song) are beatable songs as well. That's more then half of the Stillmatic album that's eaten alive by KD3. Stillmatic has Stillmatic (The Intro), Ether, Rewind, One Mic and 2nd Childhood (some of Nas greatest songs) which are undeniable though. 5 out of 14. So while Stillmatic has the greater highlights, KD3 is still technically better overall. 17 tracks no features and straight elite level lyricism. I say this as someone who owned Stillmatic CD as a kid and played it nonstop.
@jamesngene32182 жыл бұрын
@@codyle3709 you said everything about stillmatic, the titles and the qualities but nothing about Kd3. @@jamesngene3218 Why do I have generalize it, when all 17 songs on the album are better then more then half of Stillmatic?
