Just saw Mike Dawes last night, for the first of what is hopefully many times. No intention to be unfair, but after the passing of Michael Hedges, there have been many good players, but for me none who expressed musicality and emotion as did Hedges. Dawes, IMHO is in that class. He performed as host and collaborator in an international guitar jam at the San Jose Jazz Winterfest 2020. Also tasty were his duets with other artists, as he also knows how to gracefully complement and feature the other artists. Cenk Edogan from Turkey, who plays a fretless guitar was also excellent! Dawes let slip that he is going to be doing a project later this year with Tommy Immanuel, and one other player (who's name I forgot). Good stuff!

So glad to find someone that actually likes a mixture of knowing what good music is. e.g. Metallica and John Mayer. They are completely different genres of music but are both REAL music. I hate people that say "oh John Mayer sucks and is gay, Metallica are the best!!!" or vice versa. Don't understand how some people can live with only enjoying ONE type/genre of music...
