@andyw60267 жыл бұрын
He really isn't. I've seen him explain and demonstrate how he does it. NO loops.
@TopherHess19747 жыл бұрын
Andy W , he must have invisible fingers because he’s playing a solo only while the loop he created is playing in the background. Yes, I have seen his lesson on polyrhythmic playing. Watch again
@TopherHess19747 жыл бұрын
At around the 3:20 mark before and after he even stops and the loop is playing. To suggest that he’s the flash and moves so fast that his hands don’t move yet a rhythm is playing is daft and ignorant

Just in case folks think "this is just looping trickery", no, it's not. I saw him last night at SJ Jazz Winterfest 2020, and he is amazing. Was 30' away and watching him with my binoculars most of the show. Yes, he will throw down a loop for a percussion/bass line (he did his version of Zep's "when the levee breaks"), but there is A LOT going on over the top. More importantly, musical, emotional, creative. My only critique is sometimes he can border on the excessive-. My preference, don't over spice the food, or throw too many spices into one recipe. Otherwise, what is it? But the guy is a gem (and seems to be truly nice, and down to earth). I look forward to seeing him many more times!

@mipmipmipmipmip I gota say a lot of talent. A gift even. I have little talent for guitar, but I practice more than most people, I suspect. every chance I get there's a guitar in my hand. All that practice for all these years has really only polished up the turd that is my playing, and a polished turd is still a turd. But you know, I love it and play for me. And that is what really matters, play for you, if someday you achieve Mike Dawes level, great, if not then who really cares anyway.

Does anyone have any idea what kind of guitar and tuning this is? It sounds freaking great.
@corona60994 жыл бұрын
That’s a Benjamin guitar, mike knows the luthier personally and has him glue on those wooden scratch pads, I think it’s standard tuning
@g.o.a.t59754 жыл бұрын
I think this is in DADGAD tuning ,Mike's some other songs like Boogie shred is in DADGAD. This tuning is great for percussive finger style playing. So there is a chance that this might be in DADGAD tuning.
