Assata Shakur, Fred Hampton, George Jackson, Dhoruba Bin-Wahad, Lorenzo Kom'boa Ervin, Ashanti Alson, Afeni Shakur, Kuwasi Balagoon, Huey P. Newton (basically the entire Black Panther Party and Black Liberation Army), Malcolm X, Paul Robeson, Queen Mother Moore, and plenty more of our Black superheroes throughout history were American born as well. But their politics were much more advanced and threatening to the system as they all identified as Marxists, Communists, Socialists, Pan Africanists, Maoists and Anarchists. That's unlike some black folks today who go around waving the Amerikkkan flag under the "ADOS" and "FBA" labels. What happened to us 🤦🏾♂️It's so damn cringe. Good gawd

It's called African self-hatred bro. Even the white folks in America aren't "Americans" technically. It's literally a national identity they created out of thin air to distinguish themselves from their mostly English brothers and sisters back in their mother country England. So what really is a "Foundational Black American" if the term "American" itself is a made up social construction created in the minds of white people who transported the vast majority of our people here from the African continent beginning roughly in 1619? And while less than 2% of Black people in America do have some DNA from the indigenous people of this land mixed with their African DNA, the indigenous people here before the arrival of the whites from Europe did not refer to themselves as Americans either. So, in effect these new identity labels such as ADOS, FBA, etc., really are just psychological and linguistic identity coping strategies for a people who have been historically, culturally, and educationally destroyed as a result by living for 400 years or more under a white supremacist society that devalues anything that is of African origin. And the crazy part is, the first African descended people here in America identified themselves as still being African when naming all of their most organizations. This is why we had such organizations as "The African Methodist Episcopal Church", "The Free African Society" "African Lodge #1", etc. They weren't confused over who they were and neither should we be. We actually disrespect our ancestors when we engage in this nonsense.
