Just imagine what he could have done on the machines and tyres we have on the road, and that we couldn’t ride well enough to have stayed with him on this Ducati. What a legend Mike is.

At the 1979 TT I was able to sit on his bike ( Ducati 78😊) in the paddock after the race .. What a time ..

I always thought Mike needed RH shift, that's why he ran an older 750SS at the Castrol 6 Hour race at Amaroo Park and not the later 900 with LH shift.

I attended the 1978 and 1979 TT meetings,in 1978 Hailwood first, John G Williams second, sadly, JGW, a very popular TT stalwart passed away a few months after the TT from cardiac arrest, JGW had a heart condition of which he and the medical practioners were unaware. 1979 was possibly more important for Hailwood, he blitzed the 500 Senior race riding an RG500, setting a lap record on lap 2, post race interview, "I wasn't even trying"

@@patrickslinn1223 Who was the red-headed mechanic at Sports Something Armstrong, sorry I forgot his first name, nice lad, it was him who persuaded me to buy a 750 Ducati in 1975, and I think he did the TT on a Moto Guzzi
