yes, if you get it in 5 mins, then you can speed up a little bit, but dont rush it. the point again is to build muscle memory so that means repetition, lots of it.

for singles I usually play a measure of 8's on the right then a measure on the left and repeat . then I play 7's,6's,5's,4's,3's ,2's,then a measure of alternating singles. then I get technical and play them all over again playing a cheese on the last note of each set . Not necessarily for speed but they should ,like all rudiments,be played slow then advance to faster .

Hello i asked those questions 2 times on other KZbin channels without any answer; hope someone is answering me on this one : 1. I'm 42 years old ; is that too late to learn drums and if not how long does it take to just enjoy it without struggling ? 2. Do i need to learn music theory ? 3. Do i need to take lessons and if yes, how much lessons and are drum lessons expensive ? 4. How much does a decent kit cost ? Should i buy a new one or a second-hand kit ? Thank you great video and great teatcher.
@ic3m4nx695 жыл бұрын
Anyone can learn drums at any age. It is not too late at all. Depending on how much time you put in, you can enjoy it immensely without struggling. If you have a bit of coordination, you'd be surprised at how easy it is to play a simple 4/4 rock beat. You don't need music theory per se, you just need to learn how to read drum music and count beats/measures so that you can work with practice books. Start with 4/4. There are probably many youtube tutorials on this. You don't need lessons, but if you have the money for them, get lessons (lessons are the best). Start with the basic rudiments the guy mentions above. Those are super core. All you need is a good pair of sticks (WOOD TIPS DO NOT GET PLASTIC TIPS) and an old mouse pad to practice on. If you are super psyched, buy a used set on cragslist or something. Don't buy a new set until you are really invested. Good luck.

2 questions... does he ever explain why those 4 cymbals are framed?!? It looks so good hehe also how does he talk and play like nothing!! Tony Adams first told me to just try telling him my full name address while blasting 16th notes as fast as possible lol either I stumbled with my fingers or mouth was impossible to maintain both even to this day been practicing for 2 years now lol

Hey Mike, I love the concept of this video. I’ve come back to it several times but I’ve never actually followed the program. Decided I was going to give it a shot and start tomorrow. I noticed with the paradiddle diddle that it is felt as 16th note triplets. However only one of the three exercises using this rudiment are felt this way. The others are felt as 16th notes. Should I multiply my speed by 1.5 to find my correct percentage? Or do I just use the same BPM? I was messing around with it this afternoon and it felt incredibly slow. Thanks in advance for your advice.

Mike I have a question. I've been stuck around 240 bpm single stroke roll for a while now, and I understand how muscle memory would speed up your hands, but what about something simple as a single or double stroke roll? I don't think about them when they play but would it still make a difference to play a single stroke roll slowly? Or would it be more efficient to play fast as can for 5 min intervals.
