My favourite moment is when Cynthia tries to comfort Monica by hugging her, and Monica finally lets her guard down and allows her to do so. All the pride and the resentment they have for each other just evaporates. So moving, comforting and heartwarming to watch.

Secrets and lies, one of the most brilliant movies ever made. I saw it for the first time when I was 13, more than 20 years ago, and has stuck with me ever since.

That was one of the best films id ever watched, anyone who had a baby by accident & was made to give that baby up, it would have touched them really right to the heart 😢😊

One of my all-time favorite films! Great story, direction and performances! The confrontation scene is so incredible I get choked up every time...so powerful!

That interview was as awkward as the barbeque scene in the actual film.

lol...yeap, I never liked the interviewer, his "intensity" is sort of annoying and to me always felt like pompousness and him taking himself too seriously.

God, I love all of them. I think I had dinner with Mike in the Village in the 90s. I adore this movie.

This was fascinating. I remember Secrets and Lies coming out, but I had not idea it was anything like this. Wish Rose was better...but at least I know I want to watch this now.

Jesus Christ, was this guy drunk when he interviewed them?! It's like he'd never understood how to ask a coherent question before!!

whenever he starts a sentence i'm just suprised it makes sense at the end... 😅

Charlie Rose is definitely drunk here and especially Marianne Jean-Baptiste is completely confused by it

Looking back at this interview confirms what I thought of Charlie Rose, I stopped watching him after I saw him try to put Tony Morrison in a "box"!

They all seem to be getting on okay as far as I can tell, the interviewer and the guests. I don't know why people think it's awkward. They were all just being honest with each other. (I'm English incidentally).

I didn’t know about the improvisation method Leigh uses for his scripts. It’s quite odd. If anyone knows more about this please provide me with a link.

Cringe-worthy interview. The interviewer completely ignored Marianne Jean-Baptiste, then mangled the pronunciation of her name at the end. Appalling and icky..

No need to worry about him. He's no longer in the business due to sexual allegations.

What drugs was he on! That introduction absolutely shocked me. His (dis)articulation can be read visually in the terrified faces of his poor guests. He can't even manage to speak "American" english without slurring horribly. What an insult to an incredible group of filmmakers.
@ajs414 жыл бұрын
I think he's usually like that with whoever he interviews, it wasn't anything personal to these particular guests.

I tend to believe that Cynthia isn’t Hortense real mother, given the title Secrets & Lies and there are no physical similarities beween Cynthia and Hortense.
@nectarinedreams7208 Жыл бұрын
It's almost like the actresses aren't related in real life or something. All jokes aside, I actually think they do look a little bit similar despite the obvious difference, and there's far more evidence to show that Cynthia is the mother than there is to the contrary.
@mattyd30799 ай бұрын
They aren’t actually related in real life and it’s not always easy to find actors who look similar enough to be believably related. i have watched this film many times. i am absolutely invested in wanting Cynthia to be the mother. It is possible hortense’s biological father was on the darker end of the melanin spectrum and so hortense has the colour she does. But i think there are similarities like height and body shape. But again, this is a film, they’re actors….i think Marianne was perfect for this role, and i believe her character was Cynthia’s daughter
