For what it is i don't think the first movie is awful. It is entertaining for the most part. The effects are good, the fight scenes are decent, but the weakest link is the acting. The second movie on the other hands is superior by a mile.

i gotta give this to the sequel, it actually puts out an original villain, a zoanoid guyver, i dont think that kinda thing ever appears in the animes or manga, i mean there is a zoanoid who turns into more of a fake guyver form, but its not the same

I loved the anime (old one) so I watched this movie. It was pretty campy and cheesy, but great fun! I'd recommend it if you are in for a really cheesy movie!

yeah the first movie is not great but its still ok. The Guyver is one of the most best cheezy b movies ever.

I dunno, the animatronics were not bad, but the stupid stereotypes and silly one liners almost ruin the plot save for the decent choreography. They left out so many things that were important to the original plot (Guyver III, Aptom, a better Guyver II fight, Murakami, Alkanfel, etc.) that could've made the movies so much better, rather than turning them into hour long Power Rangers specials with the grotesque special effects from "The Fly".
