If the players are still showing up late even after getting fined, everybody’s a problem, the GM for signing these types of players who don’t care, the coaches for not getting their messages across to make the players care, and the captains for not setting their teammates straight for not caring. In the NFL if you win the games you are supposed to win, you’ll make the playoffs every year (see the Steelers this year, Dolphins last year). Now, if you can pull an upset or two, now you’re in business. This is why coaching is so important. If the coaching can put the team in position to win a couple games they are not supposed to win…they can make a playoff run (with at least one home game).

From Coach Mike McDaniel's perch, I see it as continuing education. A lot of leaders experience this type of situation as they rely on the "do unto others" rule, I did. This is correctable by players missing games / paychecks. Also don't say too much to the press, keep a separation of church and state. "Hey we cleared the air and have a great understanding going forward for better results, next." Use of language doesn't earn cred, addressing issues head on and being genuine does. Challenges bring about solutions, if humans weren't burdened with walking there may have never been a wheel. Next year is waiting for us to come and kick it's ass, kick doubt in the nuts.
