I went 12 days without a workout and was able to lift the same weight and even do 2 reps compared to 1rep on on my 1rep max. Decomposition may happen after 3 weeks. Mike was right. I keep records of each workout.

I workout sometimes only 1 a week and have same strength. I think 4 day gap is good.

What kind of weight are we talking about to perform this routine. I am very intrigued to learn. Should it be the heaviest weight you can perform each exercise?

As heavy as you can lift with good form & control

Form is everything , its gatta be slow and controlled and you must be able to squeeze at the top for at least 8 reps, but dont stop until you go to failure.

Pete Sisco took Mentzer’s original idea of adding more rest days & just kept going until he had guys training ONCE every SIX MONTHS

@@MikeMentzerHITBearer Absolutely. In EVERY exercise routine you always reach a point where your told to “detrain” in some way. Detrain means reduce your training in some way. Pete Sisco realized that there’s nothing magical about waiting 7 days. Every time the majority of your exercises improve in a workout, you got enough rest to improve. Every time you don’t see improvements on the majority of your exercises in a workout, just add an additional rest day. This allows you to consume additional protein & additional night of muscle-building REM sleep. Pete also investigated One Rep Static Contraction Sets in the strongest range of motion. He justified retired this year and I’m really glad I was able to help support him the past 15 years.

Mike was right on most of the points, but 1 set per ecercise is not working for muscle mass building. He wanted to find a better way to build muscle mass totally different from Arnold. Lossing to Arnold in 1980 affected him deeply.

every time you add a set, you add more recovery time, and lessen the effects of growth. Arnold won because he sucked the right dicks.

It depends how much intensity you are able to put into that set. For a beginner, consecutive reps may suffice. For an intermediate, brief rest-pauses for the final two or three reps may be sufficient e.g. 5 or 6 reps, rest 1 second to do a further rep, rest 1 second to do a further rep then rest 2 seconds to do a final rep.

I definitely need to train the same body part within 4 and 2/3 days to progress, and am able to recover and grow in as little as 24 and 1/4 hours. The more frequent the stimulation, recovery, growth cycle is successfully accomplished, the faster the rate of progress. Waiting longer does not yield additional growth, and will stunt progress if too long between training a muscle group.
