I'm not even a designer and I still love his presentations. His "F*ck you, pay me." video should be required viewing for all would-be entrepreneurs.

Thoroughly enlightening. I've moved from design to product to marketing and so much of what Mike says applies to all professionals.

This presentation saved my a**. A gut-check at precisely the right moment, albeit, 3 am. My presentation this week has totally been reframed and I'm actually looking forward to getting with my team on board with the concept that came to me while watching this. No more real estate tour.

Wow! That was powerful. I feel inspired. I really miss the design classroom, the critique, the group projects, the inspiration of classmates and professors, and the pressure that comes with it even though I hated it at the time. Thank you Mike Monteiro.

I can find no work that Mike Montiero has ever done, Nor can I find any work online that Mule design co has ever made. As best I can tell, Mike is just a liberal mouthpiece with an overblown ego and a false sense of self importance.

Check archive.org, I'm not sure when Mike transitioned to speaking ( looks like it was a few years ago ) but I assume that's his focus. Any agency that I have worked at always had an incredibly outdated site. Theretically if hes doing work for well known clients then none of that work would be relevent to even show. I had some work that won awards 8 years ago. I never show it to people. It might be a talking point during conversations but its irrelevent visually.

He may be an excellent designer, but his design skills don't extend to communication. In the first *15 minutes* all I learned was that he thinks designers have been improperly educated (but doesn't say why); being able to sell your ideas is a core skills; and you need to attend client meetings. The rest of the time is YOU'RE DOING IT WRONG AND I'M CONDESCENDING AND HARANGUING BECAUSE I'M THE ALPHA IN THIS ROOM. I can't imagine working with or for such self-certainty.
@drawnsequence4 жыл бұрын
What are you talking about? He has 13 bullet points and describes how each one is self-defeating before explaining the best way to tackle and counteract that self-defeat. Sounds like you dislike his personality enough to just not listen to the whole thing - I mean I don't even like the persona but I've learned a lot from this video.
