@@Mistergorehound I've know Mike since he started that band! He would laugh at my comment! He knows I love him! I was in a band called The Mechanics out of Fullerton. We started the "OC SOUND" whatever that is!😉 Mike always gives us credit for that. We only put out one single (although we had enough for an album.) Guess we were around at the right time right place. August 1977. Very proud of that. 😊

I just watched a recent interview with Mike after he successfully completed treatment for tonsil cancer… The difference in his voice is such that it really speaks to his heart and passion for songwriting and his commitment to finishing his new album. I’m really looking forward to its release and I’m hoping that I can catch a show on his upcoming tour with Bad Religion… I am grateful that legends like Mike have survived all the pushback that life throws at them. Truly inspiring. Cheers Mike !

Can't wait to see Mike and Johnny performing my cousin , justin Townes Earles songs in a benefit that Justin's dad, Steve Earle is doing in January. I'm on the guest list 😎 . I was super shocked and surprised to see Mike and Johnny on the bill among all the country and folk music artist. I know Justin would be stoked . I hear they are recording the show. So stoked I hope I can get a chance to talk to them backstage.

I saw your cousin play in San Francisco before the pandemic and Jonny opened for him. I assume they were friendly. Tough loss.

@@HectorSuxxx69 it really is such a loss. We are the same age and only got to hang out a few times but both have similar demons. I love social d and to be back stage with em will be surreal . I would've loved have see that show. I never got to see jt perform , I have played guitar with him like 20 years ago tho. I think that was the last time he was down here besides him being buried out there.

Incredible Artist, Actually Both Mike & Johnny But Mike Had Progressed From A Punk Rocker To A True Musical Genius/Artist. His Writing, Playing, & Even Singing Is Iconic. I Ignored Social D For The Longest Time Due To My Ignorance & Closed Mindedness Dismissing Them As Simply "Punk" But They Have Evolved Into So Much More Than That. After Hearing "Bad Luck" In A Movie Soundtrack, I Chased That Song Down Only To Find My New Favorite Band. And My 19 Year Old Kid Tells Me That He Played "Story Of My Life" On PS Guitar Hero Years Ago !!!! WTF Kid, Why Didn't You Turn Me Onto These Guys !!!

Could Mike and Johnny want to be anywhere but here, being interviewed by someone that doesn't realize how important Social D is to music history..... Case in point, "What's do you think of the current punk scene?" Clueless..... Hard to watch....I don't know how they made it through. Didn't even ask Johnny any questions....

Lol punk,like garage, psychedelic, and outlaw country never dies friend. It's always there in the underground scene where it started. Things bubble up to the mainstream surface in times to fuck shit up and make people remember and then settle back down in the local scenes and backalleys it calls home. Mainstream sucks
@Romanesquire
@Romanesquire 2 жыл бұрын
@@MrSwitchblade327 doesn’t sound like you play in a band. The local scenes are dead for bands in all genres. I listen to many different styles from old school punk, rockabilly, psychobilly, outlaw country, bluegrass and some electronic. Live shows are toast for local small acts. National acts will always do well for the most part. It’s always best for small acts to get on national bills but those shows are not that easy to get on. You gotta have connections. People don’t go to shows as much as they used to back in the day.

Punk got me through a lot in my youth! Started playing in bands, I got pretty decent as a drummer and finally I got to share a stage with a band who is the reason why I played! The band was Guttermouth! Punk rock will always be in my heart!
