If I’m a typical fan, my experience is that your music has been executed in such a way as to comfort lonely people, console the grieving, and encouraging problem over comers, while fussing anger. It inspires hope that God’s Love is all around in the physical beauty of this world. With sincere and humble respect, I Pray that you’ve discovered Jesus Christ in your spiritual journey. Mike Oldfield is one of the three modern music geniuses beside Tuomas Holopainen of Nightwish and Arjen Lucassen of Ayreon. Please understand me correctly, there has been a sh!tload of talented componists and musicians/performers in the past 60 years or so, but for me these three are the absolute top. A truly talented multi-instrumentalist, an unprecedentedly succesful career of 5 decades, gazillions of sold albums - but what grips the listener most - the pure raw emotions translated by Mike's music. Thank you Mike for letting us enjoy your music.

Absolute Mike's venerator here. And yet I have always considered paradoxal that one of the themes you most clearly notice the Oldfield-touch within, is this Shadows composition. I owe a lot to QE2: first MO song I ever heard was Sheba. And I instantaneously thought like "OMFG! (kinda, but in Spanish) WHO HAS POSSIBLY PUT TOGETHER A MUSIC LIKE THIS?" Not a second listen needed. And the Reading kid got me hooked until today. My personal choice: if you get inspired by this touch in a 3min format, go enjoy 37min of the same in Ommadawn - part 1. My preferred Mike Oldfield music ever.

+Daniela Koidl Very similar story here, only a few years ago I learned about the Shadows, but since my teenage years when Mike´s version was played in the German charts it has alway been HIS original song for me. My sister bought me his album QE2 (and also "Water Bearer", by his amazing sister Sally Oldfield, which I can wholeheartedly recommend!) and I also discovered his other, older albums like Hergest Ridge, Ommadawn, Tubular Bells and Incantations which I also just LOVED and which helped me a great deal during very difficult phases in my late teenage years. I was lucky enough to see him in concert in Passau, Bavaria, in the early 80s then during his "Five miles out" and "Crises" tour. Absolutely unforgettable, and although I at times have veered away a bit from him I always come back after years and his music (and this song, with which it all began!) still touch me to the core.. Yes, Mike, thank you so much for what you have shared with us! Und herzlichen Gruß und Segenswünsche an dich!
