Thank you so much for making this video notificates. I love the comments and the participation! For the ones who saying "screaming is not singing": the video is not about that. Actually, this video is not about proving anything. You can search for another work about it and I highly recommend that because I'm only a fan with lots of free time by the year I made the video and here you'll only see the register of what he can do with the voice, not arguing about his technique. With that in mind, for the purpose of the video, his screams count (and by the way, it is awesome!!).

One of the greatest vocalist to ever grace a microphone in my humble opinion. No one has ever pushed their vocal craft to the absolute threshold of human capability in so many different and diverse styles quite like Mike Patton. His is the definition of a melophiliac with a life dedicated to pursuing,pushing and honing his vocal craftsmanship to a almost god like level. He's got my vote and I hope he's able to keep his passion for it because boy he burns the candle at both ends and it's gotta make you wonder just how much can one man do and if that well is infinite or close to it's last bucket. But he shows no signs of fatiguing so guess we'll just have to wait and see what the great Mike Patton has in store for the foreseeable future.

His more mainstream stuff gets a lot of attention. 4 out of 5 Faith No More albums charted in the top 40 in the US, and the one that didn't peaked at 41. Even Mr. Bungle had their last two albums hit the top 200. Heck, he's pretty much responsible for creating rap metal. He just does so much more out there stuff that most regular listeners would never go near. If you look at what percentage of his stuff is/was popular, it looks like he's barely been noticed, but he's been fairly successful.

Mike Patton has a 6+ octave range, there is a guy with 10 octaves though as I heard, his name is Tim Storms.
@Roman-yt8up5 жыл бұрын
@@jyggalag9838 Mike Patton has a range of 6 octaves and 1 semitone. He has the second widest range in contemporary music, there's one young Kazakh guy, Dimash Kudaibergen, with a slightly wider range. As far as Tim Storms is concerned: a) he doesn't make contemporary music and b) it's a myth that he has a 10 octave range. XD No one has that. I don't know how many octaves he has, but the highest note ever sung by a man is a D#8 by the world record holder Adam Lopez (followed by Dimash Kudaibergen whose so far highest note was a D8, one semitone lower). So no matter how low that Storms guy can sing, he could NEVER have anything near to 10 octaves. XD
@mariamikaella5 жыл бұрын
Christopher Grech This conversation is like the big dick, small dick metaphor. “.... it’s how you use it” it just ain’t merely about range. Patton is an artist. It’s his brilliance.
@lisakogelnik65255 жыл бұрын
@@jyggalag9838 I know and like Tim storms, but it's, logically, not true, that he has a 10 (!!) octave vocal range! XD Tim Storms has a usual vocal range of 3 1/2 octaves. Only notes that are sung count as part of the vocal range. Tim Storms is known for being able to produce low frequency sounds, but he doesn't sing them. He's, in fact, not even using his vocal chords to produce those sounds, those are glottal sounds.
@juliannaser40173 жыл бұрын
@bodd boward Hmm Mike's such a legend and it's well-deserved... but I'm gonna try to be fair here.. and saying that all singers with a bigger range are "crappy" singers wouldn't really be fair tbh... e.g. Dimash, Adam Lopez and Nicola Sedda have a slightly bigger range... Nicola is a KZbin singer whom I've never heard sing live, and there's not much known about his background, so there's not much I can say about him... but as far as the other 2 are concerned: Dimash is literally called best singer in the world by many, many, many vocal pedagogues. He's highly skilled and some of his songs are considered not coverable due to their high technical diffculty level, he has a perfect technique, is an amazing live singer and is immensely versatile, and he has university degrees in both classical (operatic) and contemporary singing (with major in pop and jazz) so he's nowhere near being a crappy singer... and Adam is also highly skilled, has a perfect technique as well and he's literally a university professor in singing additionally I'd like to say that Mike has a huge overall range but his functional range is significantly smaller.. Mike's high notes (I believe all of them that are higher than the mid 5th octave tbh) are screams while sliding up to hit the note.. but he can't hit those super high notes directly, he can't sing them in it's narrower sense, he can't sustain them, he can't control and modify them, he can't phrase them and he can't stay in that range... whereas Dimash and Lopez can both do all that.. and they can sing whole songs in a super high range... aaaaand they have had that huge range available at the same time, while Mike did not tbh.. I mean it was always huge but he never had more than 5 octaves at the same time, he did his highest notes decades ago and his lowest notes later when his voice ha gone lower.. while Lopez and Dimash showcased a 6 octave range in the very same setting (Lopez has a 6 octave demonstration video in KZbin and Dimash once sang a 6 octave song on stage)
