@@offtourho as far as roadie/drum tech jobs go, working with very established bands is definitely easier. Brands bend over backwards to supply new gear pretty regularly, that's easier than having to work with old broken shit 90% the time and the same goes for most venues really wanting to accommodate the big acts, as long as the logistics were properly organised in time I wasn't saying it's an easy job in general but by comparison? Cmon man

Smooth as silk! Im a huge Mangini fan, and will REALLY miss him in DT. But... I was in his shoes back in 2014 when Detroit prog metal super heroes Imminent Sonic Destruction's iconic drummer, Pat DeLeon (also worked with prog mavens Tiles) vacated his throne. I was in five or so bands - one of which (Bloodline Riot, now The Lion Within) was VERY busy recording and doing a lot of show. There were also two cover bands and another two original bands. I also has just bought a car wash with the brushes and everything. I also had a full time job! I just didnt have the time to make it happen. Our first gig was supposed to be on the same day I was in the studio with Bloodline. I asked if they could get Pat to fill in. He agreed, and after that I just stepped down. They always thanked me for "keeping the throne warm", but realistically I was horrible. They had auditions with several great drummers from the area. Dave Taylor should have gotten it. I'll never know why they picked me... So... With that being said, I'm really happy for the Portnoy fans that wanted to see him return to HIS band. As a founding member of my band from high school, I'd feel great returning to my band. Thankfully, I've been our drummer since 1992 - the first year I hears Mike Portnoy with Dream Theater. I was 15 going on 16. They captured my imagination and interest. Mike Portnoy became a bonafide legend once the masses heard Pull Me Under. Mainstream rock music would have probably gone more in the prog direction had it not been for the grunge movement. Regardless, I'm very interested to hear what Mike does back in his chair. I would imagine it will be his finest performance since Awake. He may have a cross between the joy and elation of being home, and a little bit of hunger following one of music's true "super drummers", Mike Mangini. All I know for sure is that it will be something to see! All the best, Mr. Portnoy. Welcome home. 🙏

Perhaps the best sounding cymbals on earth, they sound so incredible that you can hardly hear the kick drum and snare drum.
@typhoon-78 ай бұрын
That's probably more to do with the mic picking this up although they will be very loud anyway. My cymbals on stage are loud but I'm always amazed how different (and cymbal heavy) it sounds when someone has recorded it on a phone or built in mic compared to what I hear live. Always leans to the higher frequencies.
