I am rewatching this after hearing the sad news that Mike Reed has passed away on 12-24-22. I was of course hoping he would recover and tears came to my eyes in hearing this. He so loved sharing his love of the organ with us.

I've always thought Bossa Nova to be 'Happy Music.' It always puts me in a good mood when I either play it or listen to it. Quite a few years ago, I took a serious electrical shock, 1,200 volts, and it actually caused a form of epilepsy, which I dealt with for years after until it finally went away. I think it messed up my memory, though. I used to have a number of songs in my head that I didn't need sheet music for, and since then, I haven't been able to remember those songs, even though I play them often. I am rather appreciative of your ability to play music without any kind of sheet music. Yes, I know you've been playing for a long time, and it's engrained, and for some of the stuff I lost, it was pretty well engrained, too, but now it's gone. I still have my sheet music, so I can still play, though, and for that, I am ever thankful.

Прошу Вас, не посчитайте мой комментарий за оскорбление, пожалуйста... Но, я всю жизнь работал с электричеством и так же получил множество ударов током... Только это было больше чем 1200 ударов током с напряжением от 220 и выше. Наверное поэтому я так люблю ритм босса-нова... :-) Please don't take my comment as an insult, please... But, I've worked with electricity all my life and also got a lot of electric shocks... Only it was more than 1200 electric shocks with a voltage of 220 and above. Maybe that's why I love bossa nova rhythm so much... :-)

Это изменило что-то в моем мозгу, из-за чего я потерял способность сохранять воспоминания. Не знаю почему, я не невролог и не специалист по мозгу. Все, что я знаю, это то, что раньше я мог запоминать ноты, а теперь не могу. Однако, если вы научитесь любить музыку босса-нова, получая многократные удары, то все не может быть так уж плохо! :) No insult taken. I think what happened in my case was something out of the ordinary, what we call a 'freak accident.' It altered something in my brain causing me to lose some ability to keep memories. I don't know why, I'm not a neurologist or a brain specialist. All I know is I used to be able to remember sheet music, and I no longer can. However, if you learn to love Bossa Nova music from receiving multiple shocks, then it can not be all bad! :)

what happened to your B3 you had in Toledo Ohio?

I moved to St. Pete Beach, Florida, in 1977 to play. I was on the beach until 1989, when the club closed, and we moved back up North. I sold the B-3 to the big organ dealer in Orlando, and gave away my home organ. I brought an Aurora Classic spinet north, and when I got here, the Hammond dealer wanted it, and gave me the Hammond Grandee Console in trade. Then a fan of mine here passed away, and left me a Concorde and a Leslie. the Concorde was "fried" from lightning, but the Leslie was mint. That's what you hear..... I taught school music and organ here for over 30 years.
