So true. My ex wife of 36 years was exactly like that as her father set that example for her. I would always linger after a restaurant meal to leave a generous tip as he never would give that courtesy. Money was not scarce either as he was a multi millionaire.

My mom and family were in a restaurant having lunch, and when they were winding down the waitress came around to ask if anyone was wanting dessert or anything. My mom was oh no, no none for her. Someone asked well what do they have? So as the waitress was ratting off what kinds they have and she got to pie… my mom piped up and in a super excited voice “Pie!?! What kind of pie??” Give us all the giggles every time we all hear the word pie, we all immediately think Pie!?! What kind of pie?? (All heard in her voice) 😂😂

You have a great mother!! Helloooo to you mom, thanks for raising him the way you have.. he's a great person to sort of idolize with all the programs he's involved in Or made available thru his programs.. I want to try it out someday myself bc love welding and I absolutely love fixing all kinds of engines ..helps make the customer happy when they didn't have to pay for most of that work being done but when we go above ad beyond they absolutely love it and tend to pay more .. A hopeful thought in hard times since I can't afford anything and want to do so much... my family could use the bump where the bills stays paid and maybe even let me relax for the day but still wanna relax if i can

What your mom said at 3:28 is poignant. It’s human nature for us to be that way. I just lost my grandmother last Monday. She was my best friend my entire 42 years of life. We hardly went 2 days without talking on the phone or hanging out. I can tell you she got annoyed with me more than I ever got annoyed with her. And her passing was very sudden, not unexpected, but sudden. Anyhoo…I think the patience your mom is seeing in our youngsters is a combination of good people trying to get away from the sick world they’re bombarded with but, on a more intimate level…I bet my next paycheck a lot of them are missing a gma/gpa and they’re just soaking it up the same way she is soaking up watching them do it. I am going to call some local nursing homes tomorrow and see if they need volunteers. I don’t have a lot of extra time but I know that it would be a good, reciprocal investment. Plus…stories. ❤

God Bless you. 10months later now, hope you are having fun. Had many fun and sad days at the nursing home that hubby was in for 3long arduous years. Sooo hard to say goodnight and have to come home to an empty house. He made it to 91yrs old!

Mike, your mom reminds me a lot about my mom. My life was an open book whenever she was around. I taught many Bible studies for almost 30 years and whenever my mom was there my life was public knowledge. And a lot of it was stuff I'd never heard of. These are precious.

Dad's and elevators... My dad and uncle were hanging signs in Baptist Hospital in Memphis in the mid 80s. They were riding up the elevator, which had been closed for repair when they went down for more material. It was packed. When the doors opened, there was the repairman standing with grease from his hands to his elbows. Daddy said to my uncle, "Here we are Tommy, proctology!"

As a portly, "middle aged" man with a long white beard, I really appreciated the reindeer story. I would have welcomed the humor and gladly played along. It's akin to one of my father's old friends approaching an amputee stranger in a restaurant and boldly asking if he killed the Fugitive's wife.
