I heard this song in 1980 in Buenos Aires. And for 17 years I was searching for it. Then I had the idea of contacting Atlantic Records and 2 weeks later I got a call at my office from the promotor of Genesis. Mike Rutherford saw that I was looking for his music and decided to send it to me. I was in shock when I received it.

I used to go to a Staffordshire Bird Reserve ( Belvide Res’r ) in the 80’s and sometimes a guy who lived locally to me in West Bromwich would offer me a lift home in his car, I didn’t drive and usually it was a 2 hour bus ride home , but coming along the M6 motorway in his car it took no longer than 30 minutes, and this guy used to play this album in his car, it was so evocative having spent a day birdwatching with the daylight fading, I still have the album on CD and digital, no vinyl, one of the best albums I have ever enjoyed, I’m now 70, the guy who used to give me a lift, well we went our separate ways after a while and never seen him since but I will always be grateful to him for sharing this beautiful music with me in his car on those winter evenings, many thanks to the creator who uploaded this video, let’s keep sharing and promoting such a lovely song and album, a joy to listen to, thank you, Mike West Bromwich

For those that don't know, Mike Rutherford is the original and only Genesis bass player, electric and acoustic guitars, songwriter and composer. Also he is the Mike of Mike+ Mechanics, his side band project. This song is the conclusion of a side long suite of music called SmallCreep's Day. The album is the same name and was Rutherford's first solo album outside of Genesis (and prior to Mechanics). Great vocals by Noel McCalla (Mike doesn't sing). Beautiful keyboards played by original Genesis member Anthony Phillips. So its a 2/5 Genesis album!! SmallCreep's Day really surprised me when it came out in 1979 (still have the original LP), even though I knew what a key contributer he was writing eise with Genesis. (Watcher of the Skies, Eleventh Earl of Mar, Deep in the Motherlode, Follow You Follow Me etc). I didn't realize he would compose such a great progressive rock album in 1979. It may be the best solo album by any Genesis member, certainly up there with Gabriel's best (Melt, Security), and Hackett's first 3 albums and Tony Bank's first solo (A Curious Feeling). The suite obviously is best listened to as a whole, and the whole album is great.
