I’m 45 and ESPN is 100% avoidable now. I stopped watching 95% of their content after Steven A had Max fired from first take and Matthew Berry left the fantasy show. Now my sports content (besides rangers & Yankees games) is just KZbin channels (on Roku) for Dan Lebatard shows, Nothing Personal, and Pablo Torre. And Matthew berry on NBC KZbin for fantasy during football season. Works great for me.

I never heard of David Samson or Mike Ryan prior to this year. I heard of Dan Le Batard but didn't watch him much when he had his show on ESPN. I now find myself watching David Samson and DLS everyday now on KZbin. David Samson is an absolute treasure for sports and the DLS is so entertaining I want to see them cover the daily sports/culture stories. Kudos to the genius of Mike Ryan.

I'm a "data point" that proves Mike's point concerning the DLS local hour. As a non-Floridian, I intentionally listen to the DLS - local hour whenever the Hurricanes lose (because I love Mike Ryan's rants), and when other Miami sports teams lose big games so that I can bathe in Miami sports fan misery.

Great interview. Mike Ryan Ruiz is a really fascinating person, I always like hearing him. It's nice to hear the behind the scenes stuff. David and Mike have great chemistry together. I would love to see a second part, maybe part of Meadowlark and the 20 years, where it's more focused on that 2 weeks Mike talked about. Not sexy, and something that has always really fascinated me from business and intellectual property rights and digital rights and all that stuff. I think it's so amazing what Mike was able to achieve leaving ESPN. Thanks again for such a good interview ❤

I feel like the biggest missed opportunity is not having Mike host or create a wrestling podcast, his love is there, stepping into a character with bits vignettes interviews feels like something he could flourish in, I’m genuinely surprised that a show that references pro wrestling for years like it does hasn’t tried going down that avenue. Especially when good wrestling pods are lacking

I hope all the Mike Ryan haters watch this sit down. I love Mike Ryan, he was definitely my first show fav other than Dan when I first started listening. People have no idea just how smart Mike is and only know him by his obnoxious fandom. When Mike stepped away I was worried because I thought the show would tank without him, we’re lucky to still have him honestly because at this point he could be doing anything for any show, but he’s loyal to Dan. Love you Mike.

I could see a future where DLS is more like The Ringer. No daily show. Lots of specific podcasts dedicated to various topics, and Dan doing a pod or two a week like Simmons does. Might work?

Good point. In 2019, I listened to at least 2-3 hours of DLS daily, including the local hour (even though I'm a non-Floridian). Now, I listen to DLS about 80-90% less, probably because there are so other good podcasts to listen to - though I do regularly listen to Nothing Personal, Pablo Torre Finds Out, South Beach Sessions, God Bless Football, and I'm starting to like Oddball.

mike is obviously an amazing EP . wish he could stay as a talent more, I honestly think that the main show has to start trying to actually be a media company where they will pump out shows throughout the day and during those days that Dan or stu is not available , the show should still be on the same time to keep the audience happy and draftkings satisfied as well. have guest host like sampson or amin do the whole show , instead of just being off that day. I think it is a way to try to give jess, charlotte and lucy more platform to be on air talents if that is something they want to be doing as well. I really dont know why david samson is hated . they should make him a guest host from time to time .

I have downloaded and listened to every episode of the NPDS podcast since #1, but I skipped this one. I quit listening to Le Batard's podcast months ago because I could no longer stomach Mikey. To be fair the Lebatard show lost a lot of fans once they all went nuts with TDS syndrome. Promoting race baiters like Bomani and Hill didn't help either. I dearly miss the old show from pre Trump years.
