In the last update on Mike's 34 Ford, we had some major engine issues and had to borrow a good 3y engine from our stash. Now that the engine is back together and ran, it's time to install it into the project! The newer engine does not bolt right into the 34 chassis so there will need to be some engine mounts fabricated but first we need to bolt the engine to the transmission. Utilizing the stock 33/34 Ford mount to locate the transmission, that shows us exactly where the engine needs to be. Once lined up, Mike fabricates some simple risers made from tubing to set the engine in for the final time!!

Great job Mike! Getting that motor in and even a grille, has to be very motivational! Really enjoying seeing your progress! Gonna be a fun car to cruise and show! I have loved 33 and 34s and flatheads since my dad raced them in the early to late 50s! Hope you enjoy that as much as I did my AV8 roadster! Just gotta love a roadster and flathead!

Nice work guys ! Good to see it coming into focus now . The best thing about building something , is that you will know every piece & part of it , how it goes together , & what you can get to replace it with , if something breaks somewhere . Can't wait to see it moving under it's own power .

Mike, great to see the car coming along. Cool build and great score on the engine. FYI, tech tip. Don't put the ground on the vice handle, it arcs through the screw and will over time make the vice hard to move.......don't worry, I don't think Matt saw that.

Your car is beginning to look like it's going to be a real sweet ride. The engine sits nice and that grill will really set off the front of the car when it's finished. Mike, have you chosen a color when you paint it yet ? Maybe I missed you telling us subs what it's going to be.

The Ford flat-head V-8 suffers heat problems due to the exhaust passages through the block just under the head face. I keep having fantasies about a hot-vee engine, with the two groups of four separate (formerly inlet) ports into a compact exhaust manifold. The former exhaust ports then become inlet tracts, and run cool. That would need a pair of compact inlet manifolds at the side of the motor, with a single downdraft carburettor serving each one. The hard part would be making (getting made) a special cam, so that the cam lobes operate the valves in the right order. It would be really interesting to see how such an engine would run. I would expect it to run A LOT cooler, and ultimately give more power for the same state of tune

Glad to see that you have a running flathead to replace the bad one. Do you plan to install a set of high compression heads? Looking at it with the engine in place made me wonder how it would look with the fenders and hood installed. Regardless of how you go with it, this car is going to be a stellar hot rod. 😊

Shallower belt pulley needed on the crank? Looks like the cross member was making the front-to-back spacing very tight between the firewall and radiator.

Your car looks great with the mocking up of the engine in the car. Knowing that the engine will be coming out for some things that need to be taken care of before final installment. Will some paint be applied in the engine area? Also will the car eventually be painted at some point down the read?
