Mike you could be the new Les Hiddins for us. Your respectful and obvious interest in First Nations practices such as cool burning would round out the bush tucker and survival skills you already have.

Missed the premiere but great seeing the behind the scenes prep. I'm not going to dis on any of the other competitors on the show and I think people apply for different reasons. But what I will say is that having seen the first two episodes it appears some people put in a lot more prep work with skills then others. I really liked your box trap and use of wire to make chicken wire. Having recently trapped a possum in a primitive cage trap (using only cordage and wood) while targeting a fox I was surprised by how small a gap they can squeeze through to escape. I hope if you did set one of these traps you were able to set a trail cam on it.

Hi Mike, have been a fan of yours and Alone since covid forced us all to stay home and binge watch content. Was stoked when an Aussie series was announced and have enjoyed the first few episodes. Could you expand on what gear you took including clothing and tools.

Great to see the behind the scenes prep, can’t wait for the next episode and see how you actually got on out there. Just be mindful of that drone footage: along with all our other regulations on everything, drone use is massively restricted here in Tasmania, basically anywhere managed by Parks and Wildlife (not just National Parks, but all Conservation Areas and Reserves). STT (state forest) areas are ok (though you probably should get prior permission).

It’s now 8/04/23. Have watched all your videos regarding Australian Alone one.. Brilliant, well done. When I see your preparation work and your attitude to things , I think of the American Clay Hayes. Maybe I’m getting ahead of myself, but hear goes . On skill sets I think your the winner . If this becomes a reality, it would be interesting for you and Clay to do something together. Even if it’s only a discussion of your thoughts Wishing you all the best Leith

10,000 calories a day! Looking at that weight gain chart at the end it seems like going to that nutritionist really paid off. Doing the rec in Tasmania was such a good idea. You must have been the most prepared person there.

I'm so sorry that you ended up at that location. A well regarded Tassie environmental expert described it well in The Guardian after the premiere "On top of all that, the selection of a gothically (and tragically) ugly location - a stretch of hydro reservoir littered with dead trees and with a bath ring of greasy mud. After seeing the ads, I was almost too scared to watch how this version of Alone treated Tasmania, but now that I've realised it's a comedy, I'm hooked." Geoff Law

I've watched all the US seasons twice and wish that I could find a way to watch Australian Alone. I also watch some of the contestants KZbin videos about bushcraft and survival skills. I'm just in a FB group for your season and watching your updates so far. Sounds like an environment even worse than Vancouver Island! Hoping your Covid symptoms pass quickly so they aren't what takes you out.

Love it. Was it the Air Force that taught you to prepare so thoroughly or have you always been like it. If you don't win it won't be from a lack of preparation.

My. Army and Airforce flying experience definitely helps me optimise my preparation. The survival adventures I’ve done (and mistakes I’ve made) help me to visualise what problems to expect.

How did the HE Atlas jacket hold up? I'm considering getting it, or their Odyssey v2 jacket. Their jackets seem to have one of the best water resistance to breathability ratings on the market. Are they worth the investment? Would you get it again, or go with something else?

There's something seriously wrong with you if you can't figure out a delicious way to eat an extra 6K calories per day and you have to eat shakes. LOL. Do you not like pizza, cheeseburgers, cheese, hotdogs, ice cream, bread, cakes, cereal??
@OutbackMike
@OutbackMike Жыл бұрын
I love that stuff and ate as much as I could. It doesn’t taste delicious once you’ve stuffed yourself for days though. The thought of it made me feel sick. There’s only so much room in your stomach so what you eat needs to be super dense in nutrients, more so that many tasty foods.
